A new Mexican restaurant is coming to Beaver borough. Crave Mexican Grill will offer burritos, quesadillas and tacos and will have enough seating to accommodate about 20 customers inside and another 15 outside in good weather. Crave will be located at 431 Third Street, right next to the Marathon Gas Station. It is expected to open some time in April.

4 People Hurt In Vanport Township Accident
Several people are recovering this morning from an accident on Route 68 in Vanport Township. A Kitchen Designs and Contracting Van collided with a cement truck yesterday afternoon, right in front of the 84 Lumber store near the Interstate 376 interchange. Beaver police at the scene said four people from the van were transported to hospitals with unknown injuries. Police are still investigating.
Francona Donates Big To His Alma Mater
(AP) Cleveland manager and New Brighton native Terry Francona is donating $1 million to the University of Arizona baseball program, with the money to be put into a capital projects fund for his alma mater. Francona’s donation is in addition to a $1 million matching gift made by an anonymous donor in June for improvements at Hi Corbett Field. Among the planned projects is construction of the Terry Francona Hitting Facility.
Lincoln Park Stays Undefeated in Section With Win Over Aliquippa
Last night on Beaver County Radio, Lincoln Park stayed undefeated in Section 1-AAA with a 66-60 victory over Aliquippa. The win puts the Leopards at 8-0 in section play, clinching first place. Aliquippa clinches a playoff berth in the loss, but is only one game ahead of Ellwood City for third place. The loss drops the Quips to 5-3 in the section and 9-11 overall.

Penguins Return From All-Star Break With Win
Last night the Penguins broke a two-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory over the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night. Patric Hornqvist, who spent 6 seasons in Nashville, put two goals behind his former teammate Pekka Rinne, and Trevor Daley and Chris Kunitz also had goals for Pittsburgh. The Penguins return to action Friday night against Columbus.

Quigley Catholic High School – National Catholic Schools Week
On “A.M. Beaver County”, Wednesday, February 1 from 8:40 – 9:00 a.m., Mr. Timothy Waxenfelter, Teacher at Quigley Catholic and Coach for the nationally acclaimed Mock Trail Team was on. Joining him are Students Sarah Belsterling and Eric Hein from Quigley Catholic High School. The annual observance starts the last Sunday in January and runs all week, which in 2017 is January 29-February 4. Schools typically celebrate Catholic Schools Week with Masses, open houses, and other activities for students, families, parishioners, and the community at large.
Shell Cracker Plant In Beaver County May Use Chinese Steel
The massive, multi-billion-dollar Shell ethane cracker plant that is being built in Potter Township is expected to use an estimated $100-million worth of steel, but an investigative report done by WTAE-TV’s Paul Van Osdol claims that the steel used to build the cracker plant may come from China, instead of coming from local steel companies. Van Osdol spoke with Mike Romigh in an interview on Teleforum this morning. A Shell spokesman says the company has not yet decided where the steel will be produced.
Fire Officials Determine Cause Of South Beaver Township House Fire
A fire on Anchortown Road in South Beaver Twp. occurred around 7 p.m. last night, according to Fire Chief Keith Girting. According to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano, the home sustained a lot of smoke damage, and damage to the right side of the home. Cause of the fire was an outside wood burner. Noone was home at the time. Firefighters rescued 2 dogs, Chief Girting said. The home is owned by John McCarter, Jr.
Sen. Bartolotta Holds Teleconference On Wide Range Issues Facing Beaver County Constituents
PA Senator Camera Bartolotta, 46 District representing a portion of Beaver County held a teleconference last night on issues such as the opiod crisis facing the state,, property tax reform, domestic violence, and the public school budget crisis, according to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano. Some callers felt that the domestic violence laws aren’t sufficient.Many callers were from Greene County, only a few from Canonsburg. She addressed those at length, not so with other callers. Constituents were able to address Bartolotta on the issues during the one hour conference. She held a poll on some of the issues that were addressed. She said if property tax is eliminated personal income tax could rise to 4.9% School taxes would have to be paid until the debt is erased.She said I’m looking to help areas like Beaver County. she said seniors can’t afford the high property taxes, and I can’t stand to see seniors lose their homes. Bartolotta addressed the problem of school funding, she said the $2 billion dollar deficit is due in part to the pensions. She said the formula needs changed. Several teachers in Beaver County have to pay out of pocket for classroom needs. Bartolotta is scheduled to have a representative in H opewell. at the Municipal building on Monday morning.. The representative is scheduled the second Monday of every month.
Rested Penguins Looking To Rebound
The Pittsburgh Penguins (30-13-5) return from the All-Star break tonight, looking to break a two-game slump against the Nashville Predators (24-17-8). The Penguins may have Kris Letang return on defense, but will likely be without the services of Evgeni Malkin for the second straight match. Tonight’s game at the PPG Paints Arena begins at 7:00 pm.
