Centennial Stamp In Honor of JFK Issued

John Fitzgerald Kennedy was the  youngest U.S. president to be elected into office in 1960, and his 100th birthday  would be May 29, Memorial Day 2017.  According to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano, a forever stamp was issued yesterday by the U.S. Postal Service.t , President’s Day in his honor John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston, Mass. The stamps are available today in all U.S. Post Offices , according to Mark Saunders, the post office department’s media contact .  The stamps cost .$49 each. The stamp  features a 1960  photo of Kennedy by Ted Spiegel taken in Seattle while he was on the campaign trail . Artwork on the stamp shows the late president in a reflective pose  is a 1970 oil painting by Aaron Shikler through the White House Historical Association Jack Schlossberg, Kennedy’s grandson , said in a news release that ” our family is honored that the Postal Service is commemorating  my grandfather with this stamp.” Kennedy visited Aliquippa, on October 12, 1962.  Kennedy Boulevard is named for the late president.

1 Killed In Early-Morning Daugherty Township Crash

One person was killed early Sunday morning in a traffic accident in Daugherty Township, emergency dispatchers said. The crash was reported about 3 a.m. on Mercer Road. The Beaver County Coroner’s Office says that 44-year-old Wilbert Kennedy of Ellwood City died of blunt force trauma.

POLICE FIND 4-YEAR-OLD WHO WENT MISSING IN CHIPPEWA

POLICE HAVE FOUND A 4-YEAR-OLD BOY WHO WENT MISSING IN CHIPPEWA TOWNSHIP OVER THE WEEKEND. BEAVER COUNTY EMERGENCY DISPATCHERS SAY THE CHILD DISAPPEARED FROM THE 200 BLOCK OF OAKVILLE ROAD IN CHIPPEWA AROUND 4 P-M ON SUNDAY. AROUND 5:45, OFFICIALS AT THE SCENE SAID THE CHILD HAD BEEN FOUND, ALIVE AND WELL, IN A NEIGHBOR’S CLOSET, AFTER FOLLOWING THE NEIGHBOR’S DOG HOME.

Former “Teleforum” Personality From The Early 80’s To Host Program This Week.

(Beaver County, PA) Former WBVP and WMBA show host and personlity, Dave Felts, will fill in as guest host on the popular “Teleforum” talk show this week, from February 20-24, 2017.  Felts was behind the mic for  perhaps the most famous moment in WBVP and WMBA talk show history,  in 1981, when then President  Ronald Reagan called the show to join in the conversation with in studio guest, Congressman Gene Atkinson.    Dave Felts will welcome WBVP and WMBA listeners to the daily talk show, which can be heard from 9 A.M. to Noon weekdays,  with a line up of special guests and dialogue about local Beaver County issues.

Riverside and Aliquippa advance to the second round in the WPIAL Playoffs

High School basketball is in full effect. On WBVP this afternoon we had Riverside taking on Burgettstown. The Panthers came away with the victory by a final score of 65-42 over Burgettstown. Riverside advances to the second round of the WPIAL playoffs. On WMBA we had Alaiquippa taking on Charleroi. The Quips came away with the victory by a final score of 70-51. The defending PIAA state champions will being going to the second round to face the winner of Ellwood City/Washington game.

After a sluggish start, the #7 Rochester Rams caught fire at the end of the first half, and kept the momentum throughout as they defeat #10 St. Joseph 81-75 in the First Round match in the 1A WPIAL Boys’ Basketball playoffs on Beaver County Radio.

The Rams trailed by 3 after 1, but took a 44-40 lead at the half and didn’t look back. St Joseph ends their season at 13-10, while Rochester improves to 16-6 and will take on #2 Vincentian in the 1A Quarterfinals.

The Spartans’ Daniel Fabregas and Rochester’s Chad Meny were selected as the CCBC Players Of The Game.
