Mega Millions jackpot climbs to $1.05 billion after another drawing without a big winner

The Mega Millions jackpot climbed to an estimated $1.05 billion after no one took home the $940 million top prize. The numbers drawn Friday night in the nationwide lottery were: 5, 10, 28, 52, 63 and the gold ball 18. Mega Millions says the new potential jackpot is the fourth-largest in the history of the game and the fifth over $1 billion. No one has won the jackpot since April 18. The $1.05 billion prize would be for a sole winner choosing to be paid through an annuity over 30 years. Jackpot winners almost always opt for a lump sum payment, which for the next drawing Tuesday night would be an estimated $527.9 million. The odds of winning the jackpot are about 1 in 302.6 million.

Boil Water Advisory in effect for Ambridge Water Authority

(Ambridge, PA) Ambridge Water Authority customers are being advised to boil their water, the authority released the following statement on their website:

The Ambridge Water Authority may be at increased risk from microbial contamination.  We routinely monitor the conditions in the distribution system.  On Sunday, July 30, 2023, we experienced a loss of positive water pressure due to a water line break.  A loss of positive water pressure is a signal of the existence of conditions that could allow contamination to enter the distribution system through back-flow by back-pressure or back-siphonage.  As a result, there is an increased chance that the water may contain disease-causing organisms.

Bring all water to a rolling boil, let it boil for one minute and let it cool before using; or use bottled water.  You should use boiled or bottled water for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth and food preparation until further notice.  Inadequately treated water may contain disease-causing organisms.

As more information becomes available we will send additional messages.  Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through these significant issues.

Family pleads for missing Pittsburgh teen’s return

The search for 17-year-old Jayshawn Fountain, who has been missing for nearly four months, continues as his family, the Allegheny County Police Department, and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) seeks the public’s assistance in locating Jayshawn.

Jayshawn’s auntie, Tonya King, recently spoke with NCMEC, emphasizing the unbreakable bond shared between Jayshawn and his two brothers, Jeremiah and Daniel Jr. She expressed how much they love and miss their brother, and that all they want is to know if he is safe and well. They hold on to hope that Jayshawn will be brought back home soon, where he belongs.

The family remains committed to bringing Jayshawn home safely, and hopes that he will see this message and reach out,

I miss you and I love you. You were doing so well please do not give up now Jay, we need you back. Your mom, Daniel, Big Daniel, your aunts, uncles, stepmom, brothers, sisters, and especially your little brother Jeremiah wants you to come home.

Love, Auntie

Jayshawn’s family urges anyone with even the slightest piece of information to come forward and help reunite them with their missing loved one.

Jayshawn went missing from Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania on February 24, 2023. Later that day, his duffel bag was discovered in the vicinity where he would typically switch public buses after school. When he was last seen, he was wearing a green jacket with fur around the hood and orange accents paired with his Propel Braddock Hills High School uniform. Jayshawn is described as 5’8″, weighs 170 lbs., and has black hair with brown eyes.

If you have any information about Jayshawn or his disappearance, please contact NCMEC at 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678) or the Allegheny County Police Department (Pennsylvania) at 1-412-473-3000.

DERRY, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a longtime suspect in the death of a woman whose body was found in her Pennsylvania home 16 years ago has now been charged with homicide and several other counts. Authorities say 53-year-old Charles Earl Ream of Latrobe was arrested Wednesday and remains jailed without bail. Court officials say a defense lawyer hasn’t been listed on file to represent him. Ream is charged with homicide, robbery, burglary and theft in the March 2007 death of 22-year-old Samantha Lang. Authorities have described the home as a hub for drug activity. Two months ago, a female informant told police she had overheard Ream telling others that he “did it.”
