PA. Turnpike To Replace Beaver County Bridge Over Span Of One Weekend

Pennsylvania Turnpike officials are warning motorists of an 80-mile detour they’ll encounter in Beaver County over the weekend. The detour will run from 9 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Monday as crews close the toll road between the Beaver Valley and Cranberry interchanges. Motorists will be detoured onto Interstates 376, 80 and 79 to get around it.

New Brighton Woman Injured After Being Struck By Car In Big Beaver

State Police report a New Brighton woman was injured yesterday when she was struck by a vehicle along Route 18 in Big Beaver Borough. 30 year old Jolleen Hupp was attempting to cross the highway near the intersection with Penndale Road in Big Beaver just before noon when she was struck by a car driven by 72-year-old Ernest Bailey of Wampum. Hupp was flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. No word on her condition.

PA’s Attorney General Leading Investigation Into Equifax Credit Breach

Pennsylvania’s attorney general is leading an investigation into the Equifax credit breach that has affected 143 million people, including 5.4 million people in Pennsylvania. State Attorney General Josh Shapiro over the weekend joined with 32 other attorneys general and sent a letter to Equifax, demanding the company hand over information about how and why the widespread security breach happened.Shapiro demanded the company stop charging fees to consumers who’re attempting to freeze their credit after the breach. He’s also wanting to know why the company took six weeks to notify the public about the breach.

Health Hike benefits McGuire Memorial and St. Anthony School

Council 604 of the Knights of Columbus in Beaver Falls have joined with the Wampum Chapter of the North Country Trail to raise funds for McGuire Memorial and St. Anthony School programs.  On Sunday, October 1st join the 10 mile (choose your length) pledge health hike.

This year a wheelchair accessible spur trail has been added and hikers with disabilities will be participating in this event.  Please consider supporting them as a hiker,promoter or pledge-maker.

Spike Strips Used On SUV In Police Chase That Began In Ambridge And Ended In Emsworth

Officials say police used spike strips to stop an SUV early this morning after the driver is believed to have suffered from a medical emergency. The incident started in Ambridge before coming to an end in Emsworth, where several police vehicles and an ambulance were seen outside the BP gas station on Ohio River Boulevard. Police said the driver was almost involved in a head-on collision, jumped a median and went southbound in the northbound lanes of Route 65. Police chased after her for 13 miles and officers from Ohio Township used spike strips to bring the SUV to a stop. The driver was taken to a hospital. Police did not say what kind of medical issue the woman had.
