Two Blackhawk Township schools were put on lockdown earlier today as police respond to a reported bank robbery in the Chippewa area…but the lockdown has since been lifted. According to officials at the Beaver County 911 Center, police were called this morning to Citizen’s Bank on Constitution Blvd. in Chippewa Township for a robbery shortly after 11:00 this morning. No details of the robbery have been released. Blackhawk Intermediate and Highland Middle schools were placed on an external lockdown for a short time..and according to school officials there was no direct threat to any school, students or staff. The lockdown was lifted at around 12:30. Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano is working to learn new details regarding the robbery and will have a full report tomorrow morning on AM Beaver County beginning at 6:30 a.m.

Dead Baby Found In Aliquippa
Police are investigating the death of a baby in Aliquippa. Officers were called to the Valley Terrace Apartments Friday afternoon for a report of an unresponsive two-month-old. There is no word on whether the death is suspicious. According to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano, the Beaver County Coroner’s office has confirmed that the body is that of a baby boy. No other details have been released.
Man Accused In Raccoon Township Stabbing In Police Custody
A man is in custody following a stabbing in Raccoon Township. Police say 28-year-old Steven Call was asked to leave a Bocktown Road home early Saturday, but refused. A fight broke out and Call stabbed the 25-year-old victim in the chest. He was flown to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Call was taken to the Beaver County Jail.
High Winds Blamed For Widespread Damage In Beaver County
Last night’s high winds caused widespread damage across Western Pennsylvania. In New Castle, the gas station canopy at the A-Plus Mini-Mart on East Washington Street was brought down. One gas pump was damaged and some fuel spilled, but there were no reported injuries. Thousands lost power during the height of the storms. Here in Beaver County, most of those Duquesne Light customers affected were in the Hookstown area.
Guest host line up announced for Teleforum
(Beaver County, PA) 1230 WBVP and 1460 WMBA have released the line up of upcoming guest hosts for the popular mid day talk show “Teleforum” . Long time host Mike Romigh has left to pursue other career interests. In the mean time, listeners will be able to enjoy a series of live auditions and guest fill in hosts. After the game, neither team will go.
Central Valley’s victory over Hopewell eliminated Blackhawk, and the Cougars’ 70-49 victory over the Bobcats eliminated Beaver on Beaver County Radio. The Blackhawk victory gives the two teams identical 6-8 records in Section 2-AAAA, tied for 5th and out of playoff contention. Central Valley earns the 4th and final playoff spot in the section at 7-7.
The Bobcats’ Darius Wise and the Cougars’ Trent Michael earned honors as CCBC Players Of The Game.

Six-Car Accident Shuts Down Route 65 In Sewickley
Route 65 in Sewickley was reopened around 10:15 this morning after being closed for several hours following a six vehicle accident. According to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano, police closed the road in both directions, allowing, police, fire, and EMS personnel to work at the scene. Police Chief Rich Manko was not available but Allegheny 911 Cmdr. Mike Bizarri provided the info.
Aliquippa Man Jailed After Forcing His Way Into Aliquippa Elementary School
An Aliquippa man is lodged in the Beaver County Jail after entering Aliquippa Elementary School, bypassing security, shoving children out of the way, running through the hall. Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano reports that according to a report from Dist. Justice Janet Swihart’s office George D. Powell, 32 entered the school at 9:10 a.m. bypassing security, he is not permitted on school property. Powell is charged with defiant trespass, trespassing on school property criminal trespass, terroristic threats, and harassment , and simple assault. One parent said a letter was sent home telling parents of a security breach at the school. Bail was set at $40,000, and a hearing for Powell is scheduled at the Beaver County Court House on Monday.
