Central Valley School District students have the day off today,because there hasn’t been any snow., it was announced at last night’s monthly board meeting, according to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano. The board approved the hiring of Trent Shanahan as assistant baseball coach. He will be paid $900 for the season. Business manager John Maly received a new 2 year contract. His salary is $29,458. Twenty members of FBLA will attend the state competition in Hershey, April 2-5.PA
Aliquippa School Board approved the hiring of retired girls basketball coach Donna Richey as a volunteer coach, according to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano. She is to serve for the 2017 season. The board approved Maurice Carey as a volunteer football coach. he will serve for the 2017-2018 season. The BVIU 2027-18 budget of $1,677,962 was approved by the board. A fundraiser movie night for the Quipettes and the #B24 Strong Youth Center was approved by the board. They will use the junior-senior high school March 31-May 26. there will be no movie night April 14 or May 5. Anita Gordon and her committee are providing security for the events . #B24 Strong will pay $135 for custodial/maintenance fees. The Quip football team will attend camp at Cal U August 13-17. Cost to the district is not to exceed $2,000.00

In 1970, “The Rapper” written by Donnie Iris was a national #1 single on Cash Box and #2 on Billboard The song,still popular in Beaver County, and a certified million-seller by RIAA, earned the group a gold record and it was featured on American Bandstand A new CD, “The Walk” was released in 2014. In the 60’s Jerry Reed built a small recording studio in his basement in Beaver, he recorded local groups, including the Jaggerz. He WILL BE AN INDUCTEE AS A PRODUCER, PROMOTER, OR MANAGER WITH 20+ years in. the music business. His award is the MUSIC INDUSTRY PROFESSIONAL LEGENDS . State St. Elementary School in Baden’s PTA is sponsoring an indoor carnival from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, according to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano. Bounce houses, obstacle courses , food and refreshments will be available for sale. It’s a community event and fundraiser, according to Kim Roppa, the school’s Academic Behavior Coach. Ms. Roppa and fifth grade teacher Stacy Brock are accompanying 50 students to Ichiban in Wexford for good behavior in school and on the school bus The criteria for the event is that students didn’t get 3 incompletes, no suspensions, good behavior, and for doing their homework.
