TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING 4 PENGUINS 3 FINAL

The Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 at the PPG Arena. The Penguins jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals on goals by Patrick Hornquest and Phil Kessel. The trouble began  for the Penguins late in the first period.  The Pens drew two penalties on the same play. Down 5-3  the Lightning’s got on the board with a power play goal with 2.7 seconds left in the period. Penguins 2-Lightning 1 after 1-period.   The Lightning tied and took the lead early in the second period.  Braydon Point scored twice 5-on-3 power play goals in the first :91 seconds It was a natural hat trick.  The Penguins tied the game at 4:29. Patrik Hornquist scored his 2nd goal of the game. The Lightning got the winner at 7:56 on Yanni Gourde’s 8th of the season There was no scoring in the third. Yhe Penguins were 2-4 on the powerplay . The Lightning were 4-6 with the man advantage. The Penguins have lost 7-of its last 8 games.  The Pens next game will be Saturday   in Ottawa.  WBVP-WMBA air time is 6:30. Faceoff is at 7:08.

The Penguins opened the scoring when Patrik Hornquist tips a Phil Kessel shot at 10:33. Kris LeTang  added the third assist. It was the first power play goal  on home ice since opening night.  The second power play goal came at  13:34  when Phil Kessel  scored on a feed from  Malkin feed. Late in  the period the Penguins drew  a two man penalty.  Brandon Point scored  with 2.7 seconds left in the period.  The Penguins will start the second period down two men.

Hygiene products, blankets, NEW items of clothing such as scarves, gloves, sweats, socks and hats. They do not need to be wrapped.

Also, monetary gifts are greatly appreciated to purchase whatever is not received. Last year over 1,300 people spent the day with us and enjoyed a wonderful meal and a great time of fellowship. Please help us continue this outreach.

Volunteers needed for Brighton Rehab & Wellness

Do you love to make people smile?  Enjoy visiting with the elderly?  The Crimson Line Auxiliary Volunteer organization at Brighton Rehab & Wellness (formerly Friendship Ridge) is looking for volunteers of all ages.  Be part of a group that plans events and activities with the residents like playing cards, crafts, music, reading & dancing.  Help is needed for the many activities as well as simply visiting one on one….a listening ear, a kind face.  Individuals can volunteer as little as one hour per month.

Bird Strike Sends Florida-Bound Flight Back To Pittsburgh

A Southwest Airlines flight to Fort Myers, Florida, returned to Pittsburgh shortly after takeoff because of a bird strike, the airline said Wednesday. Flight 1486 landed safely at Pittsburgh International Airport, where it will be removed from service and inspected. The passengers and crew members eventually  boarded a different plane to Fort Meyers.
