POLICE SAY 20-YEAR-OLD DILLON SWOGGER OF NILES, OHIO STOLE THREE GUITARS – ONE ACOUSTIC AND TWO ELECTRIC – VALUED AT MORE THAN TWO-THOUSAND DOLLARS FROM AN INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP HOME AND SOLD THEM TO A MUSIC STORE IN CALCUTTA, OHIO. POLICE IDENTIFIED SWOGGER FROM A PHOTOGRAPH PROVIDED BY THE STORE OWNER. THE VICTIM HAD TO PAY $415 TO GET HIS GUITARS BACK FROM THE STORE. SWOGGER HAS A PRELIMINARY HEARING SCHEDULED FOR MONDAY IN BEAVER COUNTY COURT.

Syrian Refuee Charged with Plotting To Bomb Pittsburgh Church Due in Federal Court Today

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A Syrian refugee charged with plotting to bomb a Pittsburgh church to inspire followers of the Islamic State of Iraq is due in federal court today. A criminal complaint alleges Mustafa Mousab Alowemer planned to bomb an unidentified church on Pittsburgh’s north side, and purchased materials he thought were necessary to build a bomb. Alowemer is due in court for a preliminary examination and detention hearing.

Philadelphia Couple Convicted Of Murder In Death of 4-Year-Old Who Was Beaten For Spilling Breakfast Cereal

WILLOW GROVE, Pa. (AP) — A suburban Philadelphia couple has been convicted of murder in the death of a 4-year-old who was beaten for spilling his breakfast cereal. A jury returned the verdict Thursday night against the boy’s mother, Lisa Smith, and her boyfriend, Keiff King. The Abington couple also was convicted of child endangerment and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault. Montgomery County prosecutors say an autopsy showed Tahjir Smith’s January 2018 death was the result of a violent, sustained beating.

Fire Still Burning At Refinery Complex in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A fire at a refinery complex in Philadelphia is still burning more than six hours after it began. Philadelphia Energy Solutions says it has not determined what caught fire, but it believes it was mostly propane. Earlier Friday, a Philadelphia Fire Department official had said a vat of butane caught fire. The company says there were three separate explosions, which were felt miles away.

PennDOT District 11 is announcing inspection activities on the Laughlin Memorial Bridge over Route 65 (Ohio River Boulevard) in Ambridge Borough will occur today, June 21 weather permitting. Single-lane restrictions will occur in each direction on Route 65 for bridge inspection activities.  Restrictions will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.  Crews from the Larson Design Group will conduct the routine inspection activities. Motorists should be prepared for changing traffic patterns. Please use caution when driving through the area.  Work zone safety is everyone’s responsibility.

(Beaver Falls, Pa.) The Huntington Business Spotlight for the month of June 2019 is Pressely Ridge. Rachelle Shea, Program Director of Pressley Ridge Beaver County and Ron Gruca, Senior Director of Development for Pressley Ridge along with Todd Galusha Branch Manager for Huntington Bank joined Frank Sparks on Teleforum in the 9 o’clock hour Thursday June 20, 2019.

Todd discussed Huntington Bank and why they are involved in the Huntington Business Spotlight.  Ron then told the listeners about Pressley Ridge and there history starting out as an orphanage and then growing into what they are today.
