Jim Skal of “Outdoor Immersion” Joins Dr. Pete Birchler For “People Purpose Planet”

Sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is go outside for a little while.

This is the message that Jim Skal, founder of Outdoor Immersion in South Heights, brought to his discussion with Dr. Pete Birchler from the Chiropractic Health Center in Chippewa for another edition of “People Purpose Planet” on A.M. Beaver County with Matt Drzik. Skal talked about what inspired him to start Outdoor Immersions, why its focus is on at-risk youth and veterans, and about what his program needs to continue growing and moving forward.

Former US envoy Says She Was Warned She Was Being Targeted

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House impeachment panels are starting to release transcripts from their investigation. And in one of them, former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch says that Ukrainian officials warned her in advance that Rudy Giuliani and his allies were planning to “do things, including to me.” Yovanovitch was the target of a smear campaign before being recalled from her post by President Donald Trump.

Investigation: Lead in Some Canadian Water Worse than Flint

MONTREAL (AP) — Journalists and university students fanned out across Canada to collected drinking water lead tests. They found much higher levels than the government has previously disclosed, in some cities worse average levels than seen in Flint, Michigan, at the peak of its contaminated water crisis. The investigation reviewed some 43,000 tap samples and found schools, day care centers and homes in some cases have high enough levels to endanger people drinking the water.

Group: Buffalo Wild Wings Near Chicago Tried to Re-Seat Over Skin Color

A group of mostly African-American people celebrating a birthday party at a Buffalo Wild Wings in suburban Chicago allege they were asked to change tables…because of their skin color. Justin Vahl says he was at a Naperville restaurant last month with children and adults when a host asked him about his ethnicity. Vahl is multi-racial. Later, a manager asked the group to move because a regular customer didn’t want to sit near black people. After several managers tried to move the group, they left for another restaurant.

Sanders: My Medicare Plan ‘Far More Progressive’ Than Warren’s

The gloves are now off between Democratic presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. Sanders says his Medicare-for-All plan is “far more progressive” than Warren’s. Warren on Friday announced she would implement universal healthcare by transferring 98 percent of the $8.8 trillion she estimates that employers will spend on private insurance for their employees. Companies with fewer than 50 employees would be exempt and employers already offering health benefits reached under collective bargaining agreements will be allowed to reduce how much they send to federal coffers. Sanders disagrees with how Warren will fund the plan. Sanders’ plan would be funded by a tax hike. Warren has pledged no middle-class tax increases. Sanders also said Warren’s plan could have a “very negative impact” on job creation.

Andrew Yang: Emphasizing Impeachment Could Harm Dems

Overemphasis on trying to impeach President Donald Trump could backfire, Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang told CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday. Yang emphasized that he does support impeachment, but insists that the path to victory is talking about how to solve the country’s problems and create a better future. He also pointed out that it could also do the party harm in an additional way, because impeachment could take five Democratic presidential candidates who are senators away from the campaign trail at a critical time if they need to become jurors in a Senate trial.
