Gas Prices Going Up in Western PA Before They Come Down Again

According to this week’s Triple-A East Central Gas Price report the average price of gasoline across Western Pennsylvania is a penny higher this week at $2.75 per gallon. In Beaver, drivers are paying 2.75 a gallon while in New Castle, the price is 9 cents cheaper at 2.66. The national price remained the same at 2.56 a gallon…and are expected to go higher after Saudi Arabia experienced drone attacks on two major oil facilities. State Residents to Get Free Doses of Opioid Overdose Antidote Meds Today

State residents are getting a chance today to pick up free doses of opioid overdose antidote medication. Free naloxone will be available for pick up at more than 90 locations statewide between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., as supplies last. Naloxone is used to fight an overdose by blocking the effects of opioids on the brain, and state officials say that more than 25-thousand Pennsylvanians have been revived by the drug since November of 2014. The medication will be offered again for free on September 25th.

Trout Stocking Right Around the Corner for PA Residents

The state Fish and Boat Commission is reminding residents that trout stocking is right around the corner. The summer fishing season may be coming to a close but starting on October 1st more than 113-thousand adult brook, brown and rainbow trout will be placed into waterways across the Commonwealth. Anglers can fish for those trout immediately, while those ages 16 and under will need a valid state fishing license and proper permit to harvest trout.

The high-profile Democrats sought to undermine each other’s credibility Tuesday as they faced hundreds of union members who gathered for an AFL-CIO conference in Philadelphia. Each moved to undermine the other’s credibility with a critical group of voters.

Penn State Extension in Beaver County Getting Grant to Help Aliquippa

Penn State Extension in Beaver County is getting more a 25-thousand-dollar Penn State College of Agriculture Grant to help fund its Well-Connected Communities program. That program focuses on health and the ability to buy fresh fruits and vegetables in Aliquippa. The grant funds will be used to create community gardens, to do food demonstrations, and offer food safety education, according to the Beaver County Times.

Bernstine Announces State Grants Approved for Beaver, Lawrence Counties

10th District State Representative Aaron Bernstine announced that the Commonwealth Financing Authority awarded a total of $682,923 for regional development projects in Beaver and Lawrence counties. In Beaver County, Mycelia Development, LLC was awarded a grant of nearly 450 thousand dollars to construct a cultural life and arts center within the downtown core of Beaver Falls. Ellwood City Borough in Lawrence County received a $190,000 grant to construct a new nature center, observation deck, and formal parking area at Steifel Park.
