CCBC Players of the Game: New Brighton @ Beaver Falls 11/12/21

1230 WBVP, 99.3 FM and beavercountyradio.com’s Bob Barrickman and Jason Colangelo had the call from Reeves Field at Geneva College of this 2021 WPIAL Class 2A Quarterfinal high school football playoff game as the defending champion Tigers battled the Lions.

Tigers Advance to Semifinals!!

(Beaver Falls, Pa.) The Beaver Falls Tigers defeated the New Brighton Lions on Friday Night, November 12, 2021, 40-0.  The Tigers advance to the WPIAL Semifinals next week against the Steel Valley who defeated Southside Friday night 28-12.The Tigers opened the game with a 67 yard touchdown drive capped off with a 15 yard touchdown pass. In the second quarter the Tigers  get an interception resulting in long 73 yard drive ending with a 55 yard touchdown pass making it 14-0 midway through the second quarter. The Tigers came up big again in the quarter with an late interception which resulted in another 70 plus yard drive. Which ended with a 23 yard touchdown pass, the Tigers went into the half with a commanding 21-0 lead. The second half was much like the first half, the Tigers offense and defense controlled the flow of the game. The Tiger defense forced 2 more interceptions in the second half and the offense capitalized on both turnovers. With both sides of the ball clicking for the Tigers they were able to secure the victory tonight 40-0.

Pa. State Police Announces the Arrest of a Corporal 

Friday, November 12, 2021 at 4:26 PM

Harrisburg, PA ­– Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Corporal Brian Rickard was charged today with crimes related to obtaining possession of a controlled substance by misrepresentation, forgery, tampering with records and evidence, theft, obstructing administration of law, and unlawful use of a computer. Charges were filed by the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Integrity and Professional Standards, Internal Affairs Division in conjunction with the Office of Attorney General.

Corporal Rickard is accused of stealing heroin from the Troop R, Honesdale evidence room, ingesting it while at work and home, and using work computers and programs to cover up the thefts.

The following felony and misdemeanor charges were filed in District Court 22-3-02:

  • Obstructing administration of law or other governmental function
  • Forgery-alter writing
  • Tampering with records or identification
  • Tampering with or fabricating physical evidence
  • Theft by unlawful taking or disposition-movable property
  • Criminal use of a communication facility
  • Unlawful use of computer and other computer crimes
  • Acquisition or obtaining possession of controlled substance by misrepresentation
  • Use of, or possession with intent to use, drug paraphernalia

Corporal Rickard enlisted in the PSP in November 2003 and graduated as a member of the 115th cadet class. He is assigned to the Troop R, Honesdale Criminal Investigation Unit as a supervisor. Corporal Rickard has been suspended without pay under the Governor’s Code of Conduct and the Confidence In Law Enforcement Act.

CCBC Holds Drive-Thru Breakfast For Veterans

It was a little different than usual…the food was outdoors, the serving-ware was paper and plastic, and the veterans were seated in their vehicles. The honor and recognition for those who served though, never wavered.

The Community College of Beaver County, in conjunction with Senator Elder Vogel Jr. and other local leaders, held their annual Veterans’ Day breakfast in drive-thru form. The veterans drove up to Lot C to receive a complimentary bag of breakfast from McDonald’s, a complimentary Oram’s donut, and a goodie bag for ongoing travels.

The event attracted dozens of local veterans who stopped by and were greeted by CCBC students adorning Campus Drive waving American flags and saluting those who have served our country. To view photos from the event, check out the gallery below.
