International Overdose Awareness Day is on August 31, and Beaver County is acknowledging those who have either experienced an overdose, experienced having someone close to them deal with an overdose, or families and individuals struggling with the behaviors that lead to overdoses.

Beaver County Behavioral Health will be hosting an event on Wednesday for IOAD from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at the Beaver County Human Resources Building on 8th Avenue in Beaver Falls. The event is in coordination with the District Attorney’s Office and the Beaver County Drug Abuse Coalition. The event will include informational booths regarding substance abuse and mental health issues, Narcan distribution, medication disposal bags, and a gift card giveaway. There will also be light refreshments such as lemonade and cookies being provided during the afternoon event.

Those who cannot attend the event can find out more information about substance abuse and behavioral health issues by calling the BCBH at 724-891-2827. Their offices are open daily from 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM for assistance.
