Among many names in the history of Midland Basketball from Simmie Hill to Maverick Rowan, it is the name of Ed Olkowski that will stand alone on the floor of Midland’s basketball court.

Beaver County Radio alumnus and Beaver County Sports Hall Of Fame Announcer Chris Shovlin talked with Greg Benedetti & Matt Drzik on the Saturday Sports Slam in regards to Olkowski’s dedication ceremony that will be taking place on December 5 in Midland. The event will be open to Midland & Lincoln Park students as well as the general public.

Shovlin spoke about Olkowski’s influence on years of Midland basketball, from his assistant position on the 1965 PIAA champion squad (“the best team ever according to many, including myself,” says Shovlin) to his long storied history of being an educator in the Midland school district.
