Leila Paige Baker (1934-2024)

Leila Paige Baker, 89, of New Sewickley Township, passed away August 13, 2024 at her home. She was born on November 8, 1934 in Rock Land, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of the late William and Iva (Neeley) Brandon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Frank and Lois Cordes, two brothers, Norman L. Brandon and Joseph W. Brandon, two grandchildren, Dean Baker and Jeremy Phipps, two sisters-in-law, Edna and Martha and a brother-in-law Richard.She is survived by her husband of 70 years, John Jake Baker. She is also survived by one daughter and son-in-law Marjory M. (Danny) Phipps, New Sewickley Township, three sons and daughters-in-law, John K. (Nancy) Baker of Freedom, Timothy C. (Dixie) Baker and Carl L. (Karen) Baker, all of New Sewickley Township, ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter survive, two brothers-in-law, Sam and Robert Baker, and numerous nieces and nephews.She was a homemaker and housewife and a member of the New Sewickley Presbyterian Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and taught the Good News Club Children’s Bible Study. Leila was a Deacon and Youth Group Leader within the church. She was a former Cub Scout Den Mother with Troop 414 New Sewickley Township. Friends will be received Thursday August 15 from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. in the William Murphy Funeral Home, Inc., 349 Adams Street, Rochester and Friday August 16 from 10 A.M. until time of service at 11 A.M. in the New Sewickley Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be her pastor Rev. Beth Wierman. Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank Tammy who stayed with Mom and gave her care and comfort for the last four months.
