Helen (Vukelic) Yeager (1935-2026)

Helena (Vukelic) Yeager, 90, of Baden, passed away peacefully on August 4th, 2026, following a lengthy illness, with her loving son and sister at her bedside.

She was born in Steubenville, Ohio on August 21st, 1935, the firstborn child of Mele and Dorothy (Ribar) Vukelic.

Helena later came to live in Ambridge at the age of eight with her parents and little brother. She attended Ambridge schools and was a graduate of the Sewickley Valley Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1957. She began her nursing career at Sewickley Valley Hospital in the maternity department, then moved on to industrial nursing at U.S. Steel/American Bridge, and later retired from D.T. Watson Rehabilitation Hospital in Sewickley. She was a born nurturer who loved taking care of her family and was very proud of her Serbian heritage. She was known for her friendly demeanor and generosity. Her favorite activities included shopping, cooking, and baking, especially Serbian dishes. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and knitting.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William “Junior” Yeager, her brother, George Vukelic and her sister, Dianne Magditch. She is survived by her loving and devoted son, Mitchell Yeager and her sister, Millicent Vukelic, as well as several nieces and nephews and their offspring.

All services for Helena are private. She will be interred at Economy Cemetery, 1691 Ridge Road Extenstion, #1601, Ambridge. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Alvarez-Hahn Funeral Services and Cremation, LLC, 547 8th Street, Ambridge.
