Barbara Shaw 1942 – 2026

Barbara (Waite) Shaw, 84, of Beaver Falls, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on August 5, 2026. Barbara was born on August 3, 1942, in Beaver Falls to the late J. Wilfred and Geraldine Waite. Her grandparents owned and operated Waite’s Ice Cream in Patterson Township, and Barbara spent her youth and early adulthood working at the store and later managing it. Barbara was a 1960 graduate of Beaver Falls High School and enrolled in beauty school in Pittsburgh shortly after. In 1982, she moved to Mesa, AZ. While in Arizona, Barbara managed a jewelry store. She returned to Beaver Falls in 1994. Upon her return, Barbara worked at Kmart in Chippewa for several years, where she worked at the jewelry counter. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Lowell and Minnie Waite, and her brother, Robert Waite. She is survived by her loving children, David Shaw of Smethport, PA, and Lora Shaw Edmonds of Beaver Falls. She was the proud grandmother of Kathryn (Zach) Watt of Beaver Falls, and Grace (Zane) Lutz, of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, and a devoted oma to her great-grandchildren, Olivia and Isaac Watt. She is also survived by former son-in-law Jeff Edmonds, sisters Evelyn Wilson and Marjorie Terracio, brother Jack Waite, and numerous nieces and nephews. Barbara had been a resident of the Beaver Falls Plaza for the last 9 years and will be missed by her friends and neighbors. Barbara played an important role in her granddaughters’ lives while they were growing up. She was always there to help in any way she could. Her passing leaves a large hole in her family’s life. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is in Heaven, at peace, and made whole. Breathe easy, Oma. Arrangements are private and entrusted to Corless Funeral Home, College Hill. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to tell someone you love them, enjoy an ice cream cone, and feed a stray cat.
