Transportation Security Administration screens record 10.4 million individuals over Labor Day weekend

(Washington, D.C.) According to a release yesterday from the Transportation Security Administration, the TSA screened nearly 10.4 million travelers at the nation’s airport security checkpoints from Friday, August 29th through Monday, September 1st of the Labor Day holiday weekend in 2025, with Friday marking one of the busiest days in TSA history. 2,971,217 passengers got screened on Friday, which is the biggest ever for volume for the Friday before Labor Day for the TSA. Eight of the top ten busiest days for travel got reported since May 23rd, 2025, and the TSA is on pace to set a record this year for annual volume of passengers. A 3.3% increase of travelers getting screened by TSA over the Labor Day weekend in 2025 from the Labor Day weekend in 2024 was also seen. The 2024 Labor Day weekend when TSA screened travelers was on Friday, August 30th through Monday, September 2nd, 2024. In the twenty-four year history of the TSA, August 29th, 2025 was the 15th busiest day they have ever had for screening travelers.
