The Clock is Ticking: Today Marks One Year Until PA’s REAL ID’s are Enforced

Today marks one year until REAL ID is enforced in Pennsylvania. Pennsylvanians will need a REAL ID to visit secure federal buildings or fly within the U.S. without a passport. The REAL ID will be required starting Oct. 1, 2020. If you don’t already have one, you’ll need to pay a one-time opt-in fee of $30 plus a renewal fee. Currently, the renewal fee is $30.50 for a four-year non-commercial driver’s license or a photo ID. You’ll also need to take your birth certificate or passport, social security card and two proofs of residence to a Penn DOT driver’s license office.
