State Supreme Court Rules Against Corbett

Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court says it’s not enough for governors to send out a news release when they are vetoing a bill during legislative adjournment…they also have to issue a formal public notice. The justices ruled yesterday that partial vetoes of appropriations and fiscal code amendment bills by Governor Tom Corbett in 2014 were not valid. The court said the vetoes failed because Corbett did not specify that he had filed and bills and his objections in the secretary of state’s office.
