Staffing remains an issue in the latest contract talks between the nurses union and management at Heritage Valley Health System, Beaver. State Representative Jim Marshall attended an SEIU rally supporting the nurses union Thursday and talked about legislation he is proposing in Harrisburg to help the public be more aware of staffing/patient ratios at Pennsylvania hospitals. The Nurses union has authorized a one-day strike for July 19, if an agreement is not reached. There are no new talks scheduled between the two sides.
