(Harrisburg, PA) This week, Democratic State Representative Emily Kinkead is planning to introduce a bill that would create the “Prescription Drug Copay Fairness Act” to crack down on the prices of prescription drugs in Pennsylvania. More people are getting sicker as the costs of prescription drugs continue to rise. According to Kinkead, the problem is regarding insurers’ “copay accumulator” policies, and she also added that insurance companies are not counting these payments from manufacturer assistance programs towards patients’ overall deductibles.
