(Bethel Park, PA) Eighteen-year-old Elijah Brown of Penn Hills is facing numerous charges after police said gunshots were fired at South Hills Village Mall yesterday evening. According to the Bethel Park Police Department, officers were called to the mall around 4 p.m. for a report of a shooting outside the AMC movie theater near the mall. The criminal complaint states that a sixteen-year-old was arguing with a group of males inside a car. He then walked away and punched the side mirror of another car. The driver of that car began to tell the teen he had to pay for the damage to the car, and that is when police say the two got into a fight. Court documents have revealed Brown, who was the driver of the first car, fired two shots, hitting the AMC Theatre. The teen went back into the car, and they drove off going through Mt. Lebanon and Dormont attempting to escape police. Police also note that the car was stolen. The car crashed and four males ran off before police took three people into custody, including the teen and Brown. Brown’s charges include aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, receiving stolen property, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, carrying a firearm without a license and more. Court paperwork states that a preliminary hearing date for Brown has not been set yet.
