(Harrisburg, PA) A law signed by Governor Josh Shapiro to urge Pennsylvanians not to drive distracted will go into effect soon. Paul Miller’s Law forbids people from using devices that are hand-held while driving. The law will be in effect on June 5th, 2025. People can only use phones for music, calls and GPS usage, but never while driving. According to PennDOT data, in 2023, there were 11,262 crashes involving a distracted driver, resulting in nearly 6,700 injuries and 65 fatalities.
