Man from Brooklyn, New York will face trial for his role in two Beaver County scams

(Beaver County, PA) Thirty-six-year-old Xinhua Chen, a man from Brooklyn, New York, who was involved in two scams involving telephones and computers in Beaver County will face a trial in Beaver County court on December 17th, 2025. According to a criminal complaint from Pennsylvania State Police, a local residenttold police on September 12th, 2025 that they had given an individual identified as a “detective” nearly $50,000 in cash on two prior occasions at their residence to resolve criminal charges that the Aliquippa resident was led to believe they were to be charged for by an individual claiming to be from the PNC Bank Fraud Department. Chen was arrested that same day. The second case filed on September 17th, 2025 involved a resident in New Sewickley Township who thought Chen was a “federal agent” picking up money for “unpaid subscriptions” the resident was told they owed by someone from the Microsoft Help Desk and accuses Chen of taking $24,700 from the resident on September 4th, 2025Chen is in the Beaver County Jail with one misdemeanor charge and twelve felony charges against him.
