(Pittsburgh, PA) A man was arrested in Station Square yesterday afternoon after police said he led them on a chase through the area and later jumped into the river in an attempt to escape. According to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials, at around 4 p.m., officers attempted to pull over a vehicle along Wood Street and Forbes Avenue when the suspect left the scene and led police on a chase. Officials state that the man was suspected of stealing firearms from a vehicle in a Downtown Pittsburgh parking garage earlier in the day. Allegheny County Sheriff’s deputies picked up the pursuit to follow the vehicle over the Fort Pitt Bridge. The vehicle then turned onto West Carson Street and eventually hit a pole close to Station Square. Public safety officials confirm that the driver then ran from the vehicle and jumped into the river. The man later pulled himself out and was arrested. Police express that he faces multiple charges.
