Local Football Player Ruled Ineligible By WPIAL For Next Season

A top high school footbal player is being ruled ineligible by the WPIAL for next season. The ruling was made yesterday during hearings that also heard accusations that a longtime Aliquippa assistant football coach recruited the player to the school from Beaver Falls. WPIAL board members unanimously ruled Malik Shepherd ineligible to play for the Quips, saying his transfer in April was for athletic reasons. That’s illegal and assistant coach Sherman McBride has been accused of recruiting Shepherd.
