How you can get involved in Beaver County to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month

(Beaver County, PA) October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and women, and even men, according to actual records from medical professionals are victims of breast cancer. Here in Beaver County, the UPMC’s Medical Oncology Department is located at Heritage  Valley in Beaver. UPMC’s Hillman Cancer Center is located below the ASP Orthopedics facility on Beaner Hollow Road. All medical oncology and hematology patients are seen by Dr. Moon J. Fenton. Dr. Grace Tarabay-Caridad’s interest is in breast cancer and benign  hematology. Dr. Yehuda Lebowicz sees all oncology and hematology patients with special interest in leukemia and lung cancer cases. These doctors, being located in the county are a plus for those with breast and other issues involving cancer.

The American Cancer Society, the Susan G, Komen Foundation, and the Beaver County Cancer and Heart Association  are groups that can provide information on breast cancer  and advise  you, according  to your needs. Annual mammograms for women are advised, the Heritage Valley Women’s Health Center located in Center Township. A prescription from  the patient’s doctor is necessary. 

Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano visited the UPMC Site on Wednesday and she is a breast cancer survivor as of 2012. 

Annual mamograms are highly recommended by Dr. Fenton. Pink breast cancer ribbons, breast cancer pins, shirts, bracelets and other pink reminders in support of breast cancer awareness can be found nationwide. Several retail stores have taken to task to sell the items in our area.
