Heritage Valley Nurses Have New Contract After Strike Threat

Nurses at the Heritage Valley Beaver hospital have agree to a new three-year contract after threatening to strike for a second time later this month. The hospital’s 500 nurses went on strike for one day, July 19, after negotiations failed to yield a new contract. The union had plans for a three-day strike beginning Aug. 23 before agreeing to the new deal over the weekend. The nurses had raised concerns about staff-to-patient ratios and health care costs. S.E.I.U. Nurses Union Chapter President Molly Romigh tells Beaver County Radio Newsman Pat Septak that both of those issues were addressed in the new deal.
