(Harrisburg, PA) North America’s largest trade deal is under review, and critics say it’s hurting the Pennsylvania economy and needs to be rewritten. The U-S-Mexico-Canada agreement, which replaced the North American Free Trade Agreement in 2020, covers more than 500-million people and about 30-percent of the global G-D-P. Arthur Stamoulis of the Trade Justice Education Fund says the pact and its predecessor agreement have cost thousands of Pennsylvania jobs and roughly a million jobs across the nation, mostly sending them to Mexico. Stamoulis says his group wants the deal rewritten to protect American jobs and boost wages. Pennsylvanians can submit public comments on the trade deal through November 3rd. Under the mandatory review process, the three countries must decide by July 2026 whether to extend the trade deal for another 16 years.
