PennDOT District 11 is announcing the newly constructed Freedom Road has opened to traffic in New Sewickley Township. Crews from Independence Excavating, Inc. have completed reconstruction work on Crows Run Road and relocated Freedom Road to follow the corridor between Route 65 in Conway Borough and Park Quarry Road in New Sewickley Township. Additionally, crews have conducting utility and stream relocation, wetland mitigation, intersection improvements at Route 65, bridge and culvert replacement, and roadway widening. The project enhances safety and addresses substandard roadway features. Construction related activities requiring restrictions will continue through the spring of 2019, however no full closures are anticipated. The roadway will continue to be posted at 10 tons until the next phase of the overall project is complete.
