First Female Muslim Member Of PA House Accuses Christian Lawmaker Of Using ‘Jesus’ Prayer Against Her

The first female Muslim member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives says she was offended by a lawmaker who opened the session with a prayer that “at the name of Jesus every knee will bow.” Democratic Rep. Movita Johnson-Harrell of Philadelphia said Tuesday she felt remarks by Republican Rep. Stephanie Borowicz shortly before Johnson-Harrell was sworn in used her religion against her. The Republican legislator who gave the remarks defended them, saying, “I pray every day. I prayed.”
