(Pittsburgh, PA) Even though the Pittsburgh-Post Gazette is getting closer to its final edition, there are efforts to try to keep the long-running newspaper. According to the founder and chairman of the Chicago-based Hoffman Family of Companies, his company is in discussions to buy the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Workers for the famed Pittsburgh newspaper also previously called for leadership at the Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh. The owner of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Block Communications, Inc., announced on January 7th, 2026 that the 240-year-old newspaper would publish its final edition on May 3rd, 2026, which will permanently cease its operations.
