(Beaver, PA) A group of Economy Borough Residents showed up at the Beaver County Commissioners Work Session on Wednesday morning concerned about the possible stalling of construction of new homes in the borough through conservation issues. During the audience participation portion of the meeting the residents stated that they are concerned because Chad Weaver, owner of Weaver Homes, is continually being given additional items that need taken care of conservation wise. They feel he has gone above and beyond and they are accusing The Beaver County Conservation District through the Department of Environmental Protection of purposely stalling the construction of the remainder of their housing plan.  They said that this issue has been occurring since February of 2025. The residents from Economy Borough at the work session asked the help of the Beaver County Commissioners because they found out that the Department of Environmental Protection let the Beaver County Conservation District shut the Lakeside Village community of Economy Borough down, which caused local building developers to say they might stop doing business in Economy. Beaver County Commissioner Chairman Dan Camp stated that the Commissioners have received phone calls from both sides of the issue and that the Beaver County Commissioners will be meeting with the DEP on Thursday, August 28th, 2025 to discuss this issue. During the solicitors’ report of this session, some of the fifty resolutions on the solicitors agenda included an agreement to be utilized for the New Brighton Community Center and Senior Center and an opioid settlement against two families, the Purdue family and the Sacra family, and this would make an authorization of Beaver County to go into this settlement. Beaver County Commissioner Jack Manning also talked about the Inspired Hearts and Hands event last week at the M:7 Sports Complex in Beaver County where winter coats, socks and shoes were given to 1,100 kids in Beaver County that go to that complex. Those kids also got to see a dental clinic and a UPMC truck present to assist them and give them haircuts. In other business, the present system for chillers for the Beaver County Commissioners will have its ice operations running again on Monday, August 18th, 2025.
