Driver Error and Alcohol May Have Played a Role In Wednesday Afternoon Accident in New Brighton

(New Brighton, Pa.) New  Brighton Area Police Chief Ron Walton reported on Thursday morning that an accident occurred Wednesday afternoon in the 800 block of 5th Street in New Brighton was  due to the pick-up truck driver’s error  and that alcohol may have played a role in the crash.

New Brighton Fire Department reported on their Facebook Page that they were called at 2:34 PM Wednesday to the scene  of a vehicle over a hillside with entrapment. The Fire Department reported that Rescue 84 arrived and crews began patient assessment. The patient was quickly extricated from the rolled over vehicle and passed off to awaiting EMS personnel.  According to Chief Walton the truck rolled over the 5th Street hill and into Hunkey alley which is 8th Avenue in the borough.  The driver was severely injured and was transported to a local hospital to be treated. Chief Walton said that  the accident is still under investigation..
