Democrats’ 2020 presidential primary has a historically diverse field of women and minorities. But in some ways the primary is also testing how the party appeals to white men. Many Democrats went into the last presidential campaign cycle taking little account of white male voters. They banked on a coalition of women and minorities to win. Now Democrats are trying to figure out whether their nominee should target affluent, college-educated, suburban men or Trump’s base of working-class whites.
