Contract Talks Resume at Heritage Valley

Contract talks between the nurses at Heritage Valley Beaver hospital and hospital officials are expected to resume today. The nurses have threatened to strike for one day later this month over a contract impasse. The last contract expired June 30th. The service employees international union healthcare Pennsylvania is upset because the hospital wants to raise health care premiums for nurses by 50 percent and exclude spouses from coverage. The hospital’s 500 nurses say they’ll strike July 19 if negotiations fail to yield a new contract.
