(Carnegie, PA) According to a release from Congressman Chris Deluzio’s office, Deluzio celebrated on Monday the award of $1,254,169 in federal funding to three dairy farms in Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District. Turner Dairy Farms received $750,000, Broadrun Farms, (which was known previously as Caldwell Farms) received $43,451 and Brunton Dairy, which recovered from a fire on October 26th, 2023, received $460,718. This money for each farm will help all three farms to get equipment that is new. The money will also make Western Pennsylvania milk production modernized and improve Western Pennsylvania milk production at those three farms. The Pennsylvania’s Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure program is where the funding comes through with an agreement that is cooperative with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Dollar-for-dollar matching grants will help aggregation, distribution and food processing from multiple farms to assist demand for food that is fresh, local and seasonal through Pennsylvania’s Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure Program.
