Colonel Christopher L. Paris will retire from being the Commissioner of the Pennsylvania State Police

(Harrisburg, PA) Governor Josh Shapiro announced a leadership transition in Pennsylvania yesterday at the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) as Colonel Christopher L. Paris will retire as Commissioner effective, January 2nd, 2026. Paris has accepted a position with the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) to conclude a distinguished career leading one of the largest police agencies in the United States of America. Lieutenant Colonel George L. Bivens, who currently serves as Deputy Commissioner of Operations, will be named Acting Commissioner of the PSP effective December 31st, 2025, to ensure the continuity of its leadership.
