Despite winning multiple state titles in football over the weekend, the Commissioners’ work session on Wednesday offered a glimpse into the recognition that Beaver County is receiving for successes outside the athletic realm.

Commissioner Jack Manning attended the Allegheny Conference Legislative Reception on December 14, and he alluded to how neighboring counties have noticed and even taken inspiration from Beaver County’s recent progress.

“Between the cracker plant, what’s happening with revitalization, with leading what we’ve done with broadband–there’s so many counties tapping into what we’ve done with broadband and infrastructure,” Manning said. “We’ve got so much positive energy and momentum going on here, and the football teams have just added to [that].”

Manning also acknowledged several other commissioners from adjacent counties spoke to him at the gathering: “It just made me feel good knowing how much interest [there was]…and talking to fellow commissioners from Westmoreland, Lawrence, and Washington Counties, who were there.”

“It was just a great night, and it was exciting to see the recognition of some of the progress we’re making here.”

The Commissioners’ regular work session for December 22 has been cancelled.
