Aliquippa Council Discussed Many Subjects on Wednesday Evening

Aliquippa City Council met Wednesday  night on ZOOM and  approved a $53,000  contract with HRG  for the Zoning and Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance updates . Council discussed the county’s Community Development Block Grant re qualification process  for the fiscal years 2021-2023.  The county is required to obtain a cooperation agreement from  third-class cities that choose to be included. The resolution is due June 7, 2020. . The funding, when received, is for demolition of blighted structures, playgrounds and other projects.

Fire Chief Dave Foringer reported that fire calls are down 60% during this pandemic and the firemen  are asked questions when reporting for duty, and their temperatures are taken.
Code and Zoning Enforcement Officer  Jim Bologna   reported that there  are multiple complaints of trash being dumped and  high grass. He said letters are going out to the violators. The zoning hearing board is meeting with officials from Dollar General tonight. The store  will be  relocated from the Plaza Shopping Center to 2009 Sheffield Road where Miller and Sons Chevrolet was  once all  conditions are met.
There is no parking in the city building lot tomorrow and Saturday  due to the STOP& DROP event Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m..
