The 2017 Senior Olympics was happened yesterday, with smiling faces and lots of anticipation The games began with a special dedication starting with McKenzie Cross dedicating today’s games to long time friend Betty Butera, who was killed in a motorcycle accident July 29, 2017 along with her husband Warren. McKenzie spoke of Betty from the heart. She spoke of her unconditional love and devotion to care for others, evolving into her homecare agencies, Heart 2 Heart and Hearts 2gether Homes. A moment of silence was observed in Betty and Warren Butera’s memory.
Some of Betty’s family was present. Her daughter Khaela spoke of her love to all she cared for and for the Special Olympics. How blessed they all felt to be part of the event and to all the seniors there that knew her mom.
Senator Elder Vogel was the master of ceremonies. Giving start to all the events which included basketball, horse shoes, bowling. golf, spelling bee, corn hole and pitch golf.
Gold, Silver and Bronze medals Medals were handed out and awarded to winners in each category and trophies went to the facilities with the most individual medal winners. Congratulations
