Underground Railroad Markers in place in New Brighton

The New Brighton Historical Society has completed the installation of historic markers to designate the safehouses that played a major part in the Underground Railroad.  New Brighton was a hub of the Underground Railroad movement, and is one of only a few towns in the country that has 6 homes, as well as a church affiliated with this movement, still in existence.  A walking tour of sites in New Brighton has been developed by the Historical Society to educate future generations on this pivotal piece of history in New Brighton.  The self-guided walking tour pamphlet is available at the New Brighton Borough Municipal Building and online at the Beaver County Tourism website, www.visitbeavercounty.com
