Dino Capistrani, Concordia Visting Nurses on Teleforum with Frank Sparks Friday October 19, 2018

Dino Capistrani, Marketing Director for Concordia Visiting Nurses made his monthly appearance on Teleforum with Frank Sparks, Friday October 19, 2018.

The Topic this month was C.O.P.D. and exercise. Is it an oxymoron?. Dino discussed what exactly is C.O.P.D. and why exercise is a good thing if you have C.O.P.D. In exercise Dino doesn’t mean hard core exercise but something as simple as arm raising exercise or even singing .

Dino told the listeners about a special program that Concordia has to help people with C.O.P.D. . Dino explained that you have to have a standing order from a doctor to utilize  the Concordia Visiting Nurses program. Capistrani also advised the listeners before you do anything you should consult your Physician just like you would before you would start anything new if you have health care issues.

Josh Kail Republican Candidate for State House joined Frank Sparks on Teleforum October 18, 2108

As part of the continuing series on Teleforum with Frank Sparks highlighting  the candidates for the 2018 General Election Frank welcomed in Josh Kail a Republican running for Pennsylvania State Representative in the 15th District on Thursday October 18, 2018 at 10:10 a.m..

US Representative Keith Rothfus was on Teleforum, Wednesday October 17, 2018

(Beaver Falls, Pa.) 12th District United States Representative Keith Rothfus was a guest of Frank Sparks on Telforum Wednesday October  17, 2018, at 9:10 am. Also joining Frank in studio during the interview was Beaver County Radio News Director Pat Septak.

The three started out by discussing the new program of Opportunity Zones. Keith explained that it is part of the “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act” that put more money in peoples pockets. Rothfus also stated that the economy is the best it has been in 20 years and that the unemployment is at it’s lowest since 1969. The opportunities zone is  a list comprised by each governor that had to identify 25 areas in their states that were perfect areas for opportunity zones. The map below shows the opportunity zones locally.

The guys also talk about the strong economy and job growth throughout the United States under the current administration. Rothfus said we need to continue steaming ahead like a locomotive and we don’t want to put on the brakes and we need to  keep the right policies in place. Rothfus said if we go back to previous policies under other administrations we will stall out the economy.

Frank asked Rep. Rothfus if there is any progress with being able to save the jobs at both Bruce Mansfield coal fired plant and Shippingport Nuclear Power Plant both owned by First Energy.  Rothfus said he continues to press ahead and lead the efforts in Congress to take action and the administration has already directed the Secretary of the Energy to take a look at this. He believes that the Federal Government can take action under the section 202 of the federal power act to make sure that the grid doesn’t go down. Tom Young discussed the Difference between Traditional and Typical planning of Teleforum

(Beaver Falls, Pa.) Tom Young from 1st Consultants in Beaver mad his monthly appearance on Teleforum with Frank Sparks on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 , at 9 a.m..

This month Tom talked about the differences between Traditional and Typical planning for your financial future. Tom said that back in the 70’s we traditionally buy a house have a mortgage for 30 years  and wouldn’t have any credit cards so we would work hard to pay our mortgage off early. Today we have so many choices and so many people while the mortgage rates are down have their mortgage plus credit cards. Tom discussed with the rate of inflation that what you need today per month to live could almost double in the next 25 years.

This months show as Tom said was the “helicopter hovering over” and next month we are going in for a landing so tune in on November  19, 2018 at 9 a.m..

Local Seniors Turn Out for Senior Day at the Beaver Valley Mall

Beaver County Radio Program Director, Frank Sparks, along with former intern turned employee, Kaisha Jantsch, attended Senior Day at the Beaver Valley Mall, where area Seniors visited with organizations, vendors, and even local government officials to learn about the opportunities the Beaver County community can offer them.

The event took place from from 10am-12pm today. Sparks used the time to interview organization and government representatives on air, while Jantsch ran the infamous Beaver County Radio Personality Prize Wheel.

Scott Tady to guest host Teleforum on Tuesday October 9, 2018

(Beaver Falls, Pa.) Scott Tady , Entertainment Editor for the Beaver County Times will guest host Teleforum on Tuesday October 9, 2018 from 9 a.m. to Noon for the vacationing Frank Sparks. Tady who recently celebrated 25 years of employment at the Beaver County Times will have a vast array of guests for the listeners.

Scott will have local national sports writer John Mehno at 10:10 a.m. right after the 10 o’clock news. . Lincoln Park founding artistic director Steve Catanzarite will join Scott at 11:10 a.m. and Scott will round out the morning with The Skyliners’ lead vocalist Donna Groom.

2018 Geneva Homecoming Pre-game broadcast on WBVP and WMBA

Homecoming 2018 for the Geneva College Golden Tornado’s started out as a beautiful afternoon on an early October Saturday. Beaver County Radio’s Frank Sparks and Ed Hermick hosted a pre-game tailgate broadcast from the North Gate of Reeve’s Stadium on the Campus of Geneva College. Frank started out by interviewing Dr. Calvin Troup who is President of Geneva College. The rest of the afternoon involved interviews with staff and faculty of Geneva College as they gave their predictions about today’s football game.

During the broadcast Frank interviewed many dignitaries from Geneva College. They talked about topics such as student life, admissions, degrees, and of course athletics.
