Grand Opening Broadcast at Express Lane Service Center at the Beaver Valley Auto Mall

(Center Twp., Pa.) The weather couldn’t of been any better for Beaver County Radio’s Live broadcast of the Grand Opening of the Express Lane Service Center at the Beaver Valley Auto Mall. Frank Sparks, host of Teleforum and Zach Ulrich were on hand for all of the festivities that started with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony by Beaver Valley Auto Mall owner PJ Latsko. PJ was joined by Jack Manning, President of the Beaver County Chamber of Commerce and Beaver County Commissioner Sandie Egley. Check out the video below of the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.

 

There were free items given away by various vendors and you could also register to win 4 free tires from the Beaver Valley Auto Mall a $800.00 value. Rick Maddock, Service Lane Manager told the listeners that they will be taking registration throughout the month of October and winner will be picked on October 31, 2019. You can register by stopping in at the Beaver Valley Auto Mall Express Lane Service Center.

Beaver County Radio Geneva College Homecoming pre-game tailgate party!!

(Beaver Falls, Pa.) The scene was a beautiful early Fall Saturday on the campus of Geneva College. The perfect scene for homecoming 2019. Beaver County Radio and Geneva College hosted a pre-game broadcast from the front gate of Reeve’s Stadium. Frank Sparks host of Teleforum interviewed Geneva College admistration staff, professors, former students and current students to get the crowd pumped up for the big game that featured the Geneva College Golden Tornadoes hosting the the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets. Former Congressman and New Brighton Grad Joe Kolter passes away!!

(Beaver Falls,Pa) Former United States Congressman Joe Kolter passed away on September 8, 2019 in Harrisburg Pa. Kolter formerly of Daugherty Twp. was a 1944 graduate of New Brighton High School. He proudly served his country from 1944 to 1947 during WWII. Joe earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Geneva College in 1950. Kolter served as a New Brighton Councilman from 1961 to 1965, until winning the election for State Representative. He served in the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives from 1969 to 1982. During his tenure, Joe served as the Chairman of the Transportation Committee. He was subsequently elected to the Ninety-eighth Congress of the United States and to the four succeeding terms. He served from January 3, 1983 to January 3, 1993. Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife Dorothy. He is  survived by three sons and one daughter.

His viewing will be Monday, September 16, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester. Military Honors will be presented by members of the Beaver County Special Unit at 1 p.m. followed by a brief service to remember, honor and celebrate his life. Private interment will be in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park. Joe Kolter was 93 years old.

 

The Best of Beaver County talks Politics and Basketball!!

The Best of Beaver County is easy to discover; it’s right on your radio!  Tune in this and every Thursday from 11 to 11:30 A.M.  for “The Best of Beaver County”, an innovative radio program on WBVP and WMBA presented by St. Barnabas. The show is hosted by Jim Roddey and is dedicated to shining light on the great things going on right here in local neighborhoods, and the people that are making it happen.This week Jim’s guests were Senator Elder Vogel, Chuck Cooper, and Tom Rooney .

In segment one this week Mr. Roddey and Senator Vogel talked about his growing up as a dairy farmer and that as an adult after graduating from school her returned to run the family farm. Vogel even talked about selling the cows and that him and his wife still run the farm. Vogel then discussed with Roddey his career as a Senator and some of the committees he is on and has been on in the Senate. Vogel talked about his passion for helping people and the good feeling he gets when someone approaches him and thanks him for helping them. One of the things that the Senator was able to get passed through was the fact that in the past you weren’t permitted to sell home made baked goods at a fundraiser and now you can.

In segment two Mr. Roddey talked with Tom Rooney who is a promoter that was instrumental and helping Chuck Cooper get into the Basketbal Hall of Fame. Chuck’s son Chuck the 3rd joined the conversation and talked about his Dad being one of the first Black Players drafted into the NBA by the Boston Celtics in after having a stellar career at Duquesne that led to a National Title. After pushing for sometime Rooney was able to help Cooper get  inducted about two weeks ago. Unfortunatley Cooper passed away at the age of 57 and wasn’t here to see the culmination of his career.

Perfect weather for the 2019 New Brighton Car Cruise


(New Brighton, Pa.) Mother nature was making up for the miserable weather at the 2018 New Brighton Car Cruise by providing one of the most beautiful earlier Fall Saturday’sa as an a back drop for the 2019 New Brighton Car Crusie. Cruiser’s arrived early an often as the cruise officialy got under way at 11 am. Beaver County Radio’s Frank Sparks and Zach Ulrich filed live reports from the car cruise during the Geneva vs. St. Joseph football game broadcast.  The personality Prize wheel was in full operation as many cruise attendees spun the wheel to try and win a great prize.

Frank and Zach were on the main street of New Brighton from 1-4 pm with the prize and also handing out bags of Herr’s potato chips just for spinning the wheel. Check out all of the photos below of another successful New Brighton Car Cruise….
