The Red Hurricane took the lead for good with a 3-point shot that ended the 1st quarter at 11-10 New Castle. Tonight’s CCBC Players of The Game were Marcus Hooker for New Castle (18 points) and Josh Creach for Beaver Falls (16 points). The Tigers drop to 11-2 in Section 2-AAA (18-3 overall), while New Castle clinches their first section title since 2014, improving to 13-0 in the section with the finale on Friday. It was a close match for 24 minutes, but the Central Valley Warriors climbed back into the playoff race with a 63-51 victory over the Blackhawk Cougars in Beaver County Radio’s Game of The Night. The Warriors were led by Parker Hudson who scored 24 points; Blackhawk was led by Dawson Mary with 13. Hudson and Blackhawk’s Noah Damazo (12) were named tonight’s CCBC Players of The Game. Using a strong 15-4 start, Rochester earns their first win in Section 1-A tonight, as they earn a road win over Quigley Catholic by the score of 71-55. Despite the absence of Nellie Cummings, the Lincoln Park Leopards hold off a stingy Riverside Panther squad by a score of 72-49. The game was tied at 41 after 3 quarters, but the Leopards outscored Riverside 31-9 in the final frame. Lincoln remains undefeated in Section 1-AA at 10-0 (15-2 overall), while Riverside slips to 4-5 in the section (7-11 overall). Ambridge keeps hold of a playoff spot in section 2-AAA with a victory over Hopewell tonight on WMBA. The Bridgers now have a 6-4 record in 2-AAA and have third place all to themselves. The Vikings fall to 0-10 in section play. Tom Hays has the recap for 1460 WMBA and Beaver County Radio.

After being down 12 heading into the 4th quarter with their season on the line, the Beaver Bobcats scored 29 points in the final frame, and Darius Wise’s 40-foot shot at the buzzer gave the Bobcat squad a 64-61 comeback win over the Central Valley Warriors.

Wise led all scorers with 35 points, including 19 in the 4th quarter. Josh Carter had 16 for Central Valley; both him and Wise were named tonight’s CCBC Players of The Game.

With the win, Beaver joins Central Valley and Blackhawk in a tie for 4th place in Section 2-AAA; all three schools are 4-6 in section play.
