(Beaver Falls, Pa.) Tune into Beaver County Radio on Wednesday night at 7:05 PM for the 2022 Season Premiere of “The Coaches Corner.” Join Bob Barrickman and new Beaver County Radio Broadcast Team member, John Perrotto as they get you set for week zero of high school football in Beaver County.
Bob and John will preview the games that Beaver County Radio will be carrying on Friday night this week. Our coverage on 99.3 FM, 1230 WBVP, beavercountyradio.com and Facebook live will take us to Chippewa Township to cover our own Beaver County Back Yard Brawl as the Blackhawk Cougars will host the Beaver Falls Tigers at 6:30 PM. On 95.7 FM, WMBA, and the Trib-Live High School Sports Network we will be heading to Pat Tarquinio Field in Beaver for another Back Yard Brawl as The Beaver Bobcats will be hosting the Western Beaver Golden Beavers at 7:00 PM.

Beaver County Radio Adds Pa State Rep. Rob Matzie To Sports Broadcast Team

(Beaver Falls, Pa.) Pennsylvania State Representative Rob Matzie joined Eddy Crow on Teleforum Friday morning, August 12, 2022 in the Eleven O’clock Hour to talk about the happenings of what is going on in the 16th District and in the state of Pennsylvania.

During the interview after the 11:30 news a special announcement was made by Matzie and Crow that Matzie will be a part of the Beaver County Radio Sports Broadcasting team this fall. Matzie will join Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame broadcaster Bob Barrickman, Bruce Frey, Mike Azadian and another new addition to the team this year former Beaver County Times writer and current freelance writer John Perrotto.

Matzie isn’t new to the broadcast booth as he called games for WMBA back in the day. Matzie worked for WMBA from 1987 until 1994 as sports broadcaster and show host. Matzie continued to broadcast high school sports for the MSA and Trib-Live networks off and on for a number of years.

Beaver County Radio is excited to start our 75th Year of broadcasting high school sports and to roll out our new broadcast teams starting Friday August the 26, 2022.

Beaver County Radio is entering its 75th year in broadcasting and we are bigger and better than ever. Now with four stations and online streaming to keep you covered and up to date on this season’s football action. Join Bob Barrickman, John Perrotto, Bruce Frey, and Mike Azadian, for a variety of high school football action from across the area. Bob Barrickman and Bruce Frey will also have the call of Geneva Golden Tornados football and  Bill Hillgrove along with Pat Bostick will have the call for Pitt Panther’s Football on Beaver County Radio.
On Wednesdays at 7PM throughout the season Beaver County Radio will continue the tradition of the “Coaches Corner” from the Beaver County Radio Studios with host Bob Barrickman and on Friday night’s after the action is over it will be the return of the Legendary ” Wrap Up Show”  until 11:00 PM.

Ohio nips Pennsylvania All Stars in a Classic

Penn Ohio Allstar football game turns into a classic with 50 pts scored in 2nd half. The first half Ohio scored touchdowns in the first and second quarter and looked to be in control of the game. But the Penn all stars had a lot to say in the 2nd half scoring 28 pts in the 2nd half and taking the lead by going for 2 with 3 mins 26 seconds left in the 4th to take the lead. But  Ohio marched down the field and scored with 23 seconds left on the clock to pull out the win, final score Ohio all stars 35 Penn all stars 28.

Quaker Valley falls to Neumann Goretti 93-68


Quaker Valley met Neumann Goretti in Hershey for the 2022 PIAA basketball state championships.  The Saints came out strong from the start leading Qauker Valley early on.  The Quakers came back fast to erase their deficit and take the lead.  Quaker Valley went on to struggle against defending the Spartans and trailed at the half 41-27.  In the second half, Neumann Goretti continued to control the scoreboard but the Quakers still put up a fight to finish the game.  Quaker Valley ended their near perfect season 27-1 with a loss.  The final score was Neumann Goretti 93 Quaker Valley 68.

Freedom Lady Bulldogs Heading to Chocolate Town!!!


Freedom took on North Catholic in this PIAA semifinal game to see who got to go to Hershey. North Catholic took off to an early start in the game leading Freedom throughout the first half.  The score at halftime was 7-4 North Catholic.  North Catholic continued to lead in the second half until Freedom gained some late momentum to take the lead.  The Lady Bulldogs managed to secure a three possession lead with only seconds remaining on the clock.  Freedom will head to Hershey for the state championship with a final score Freedom 46 North Catholic 39.
