John Wesley Cable, Jr., 66, of Coraopolis, formerly of Beaver County, passed away on May 24th, 2025, after a battle with heart disease.
He was born in Rochester on December 20th, 1958, and was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Sr. and Ella M. Creese Cable, an infant brother, George and his brothers-in-law, James A. Wedgewood and Chuck W. Noah. He is survived by his sisters, Mariella Noah, Leslie Wedgewood, Jai-Ellen St. George, and Shelly Cable; as well as seven nieces and two nephews, several great nieces and great nephews. John was close to his niece, Brooke Lee-Anne Kozol (Laughren), having shared a love for the Miami Dolphins and his special friend and her daughters, Sheena M. Ball and Ash’Lee Nichole Bentley and Alexis Breanna Ball.

John was a member of Unionville United Methodist Church and had worked as a roofer and security guard. He was an avid Blood Donor for the American Red Cross, and will be remembered as being very social, loving to socialize with everyone.

A Memorial Visitation will be held at the Midland American Legion, 800 Midland Avenue, Midland, on Friday May 30th from 6-8 p.m.

Val W. Kuebel, 76, of Brighton Township, passed away on May 24th, 2025 at Beaver Valley Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on February 20th, 1949, in North Canton, Ohio, a son of the late Maurice and Gloria Kuebel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Ann. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Nadine Arlov Kuebel, his daughter, Valerie Ann Kuebel of Brighton Township, his brother, Van Kuebel of California and Greg (Cathy) Kuebel of Tennessee and his granddaughter, Alaina Marie Kuebel. Val had been a resident of Brighton Township for the past 38 years. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam War. He worked and retired from Crucible Steel, Colt Industries as a crane operator. He was a lifetime member of Midland Sportsman Club. He was also an avid outdoorsman who especially loved hunting and fishing.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 28th in the Noll Funeral Home Inc., 333 Third Street, Beaver, from 11 a.m. until the time of a procession at 1 p.m. for Full Military Rites at the Beaver Cemetery, conducted by the Beaver County Special Unit.

Elsie M. Schlack, 89, of Vanport Township, passed away peacefully on May 24th, 2025, in the comfort of her home.

She was born in Rochester on February 27th, 1936, a daughter of the late Frank and Martha (Potts) Kleber. In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Schlack, Sr. and her siblings: Frank Kleber, Jr., Betty Estel, Martha Legge, Joan Sedlacek, Thelma “Tootsie” Anzur, and Delores “Dolly” Helzel. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her loving children: Cindy Capp, Duane (Karen) Schlack, Jr., Debbie (Joe) Kidda, Sharon (Jim) Forner, Pam (John) Forsythe, and Mike (Ami) Schlack; as well as fourteen grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, a great-great grandchild on the way and numerous extended family and friends.

Elsie had worked as a clerk in the Beaver County Election office for 22 years prior to her retirement. She was Presbyterian by faith and was the past president of the Van Buren Homes Association. Following her retirement, she was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her home and family.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 28^th from 4-7 P.M. in the GABAUER-TODD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 340 Third Street, Beaver, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, May 29th at 11 A.M.

Interment will be private in Beaver Cemetery.

Loretta Wilson Marsh, 99, passed away on May 18th, 2025 of natural causes at St. Barnabas, Beaver Meadows.

She was born in Ellwood City on August 16th, 1925, the daughter of the late Raymond and Edna Burns Wilson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Edwin L. Marsh and her brother, William Wilson. She is survived by her two daughters, Marilyn and her husband William Timoney of Rancho Mirage, California and Laraine Marsh of Orlando, Florida, her nieces, Marsha Schaer of Beaver, Patty Aumiller of Ellwood City and her nephew, Paul and his wife, Wendy of Cranberry Township.

Loretta graduated from Ellwood City High School in 1943, where she was active in tennis and the drama club. She then attended Westminster College and graduated from Geneva College in 1947, where she met the love of her life and husband, Edwin L. Marsh. Loretta was a former teacher at Beaver Area High School and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Beaver where she participated in Hodge Band and Naomi Circle. She was a member of her beloved bridge club for over 60 years, and a longtime member of the Ladies Golf League at Blackhawk Golf Club.

Friends will be received on Friday, May 30th from 11 A.M. to 12 Noon at the GABAUER-TODD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 340 Third Street, Beaver, followed by a brief service officiated by the Pastor Ron Cepek.

A private interment will be held at Locust Grove Cemetery of North Sewickley Township.

Joel G. Javens, 97, of Freedom, passed away at home on May 21st, 2025, after a six- month illness. He was born at his home in Beaver Falls on January 5th, 1928, a son of the late Ira and Idella (Brenaman) Javens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Colton Javens. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Rebecca (Becky) Richards Javens, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and Christine Richards (Florida), his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patricia (Richards) Minner and Gary Minner (Tennessee), and his beloved Maltese dog, Willie. Joel loved children and he was dearly loved by all his nieces and nephews.

Joel was a graduate of Beaver Falls High School, where he played the tuba in the marching band. Upon graduation, Joel enlisted in the U.S. Marines, where he earned the rank as an Expert Rifleman. After his discharge, Joel attended Geneva College and graduated with a history degree. He also found a love of construction and built several houses with his brother, James. Joel worked for many years in the construction industry and retired from Ambridge Lumber Company.

All are welcome to gather for a visitation, which will be held on Tuesday, May 27th, from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M., in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, where a Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 28th, at 11 A.M.  Interment will be held privately in Oak Grove Cemetery, 1101 9th Street Extension, Freedom.

Kimberly “Kimy” Ann Alexander, 59, passed away unexpectedly on May 15th, 2025 in Monaca. She passed away two months shy of her 60th birthday. She was the daughter of the late William J. “Windy” Alexander and the late Sara L. Reft Alexander, both of Monaca. She is survived by her brothers, Jay (Marilee) and Jeff (Lorie) and her nieces and nephews: Carly, Ryan, Grant, Taylor, and Austin (Ashely).

Kimberly graduated from Monaca High School and enjoyed playing softball. She later joined a pool league with friends. She grew up camping with her family, where she made lifelong friends along the way. She especially enjoyed vacationing in Virginia Beach, as well as trips to Myrtle Beach and cruises with the Conleys, whom she considered family.

Kimberly’s perfect day was spent “chillaxing” at Ruthie’s pool. She collected dolphin figurines and T-shirts from every vacation. She was also a passionate fan of Jimmie Johnson and NASCAR racing. She was never without her favorite iced tea, Lifesavers and chap stick. She was a devoted caregiver to her mother Sara for many years, and she is remembered with love by many cousins and dear friends.

William “Bill” Rearick, Jr., 73, of New Brighton, passed away peacefully on Good Friday of 2025, April 18th, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, compassion, and quiet dignity. He was born on November 1st, 1951. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, sister, aunts and uncles. He is survived by one of his aunts, several cousins, his nephews and the many friends, coworkers and community members whose lives he touched. His memory will live on in the values he embodied and the quiet kindness he shared every day.

William devoted many years of his life to helping others through his work at Holy Family Institute in Emsworth, where he served as a Unit Coordinator. He was most recently a caregiver at Home Instead of Zelienople. His calm demeanor, strong work ethic, and genuine care for the well-being of others earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and the many young lives he impacted. He enjoyed travel and exploration, especially to amusement parks. Whether discovering new destinations or simply enjoying the open road, he found peace and inspiration in the journey. His stories and experiences were a source of joy to those who knew him.

William will be buried with his mother in St. Mary Cemetery of Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania.

Nancy Jane (Mooney) Schettig, 84, passed away on May 21st, 2025 surrounded by her loving family, after a lengthy illness. She was a resident of Franklin, Pennsylvania for the past 10 years and a part-time resident of Buffalo, Wyoming from 2001-2020. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Schettig, her parents, Clay Mooney and Dora Hollinbaugh Fritz, her siblings: Shirley Campbell, Patti Rae, Bertha Bable, Byron Mooney, Rita Camp and Donnie “George” Mooney; as well as her sisters-in-law, Judy and Chris Mooney and her granddaughter Infant Fezell.

She was born on November 15th, 1940 and raised primarily by her grandparents in New Brighton, where she spent most of her life. Nancy had an abundance of family and friends who adored her. She made many of these friends through her work and volunteer activities. Beginning in high school after graduating with the New Brighton Class of 1959, she worked at Baden’s Dairy, Jurich’s Furniture, K-Mart and McNutt’s Abbey Flower Shoppe. She then became a tour bus guide before spending 22 years as a land leasing agent for Atlas Resources. Her last job was truly in her sweet spot: a hostess at Eat’n Park in Franklin. We’ve been told that Nancy’s gift of gab was loved by customers being seated but led to some massive congestion in the waiting area. Management politely asked her to “pick up the pace a little bit.” Her many volunteer activities in New Brighton included being a den mother for Cub Scouts and President of both New Brighton Midget Football and Varsity Football Mothers. In Wyoming, Nancy was a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate – son Rick followed in his mother’s footsteps and is currently a CASA in Monterey County, California), and MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) volunteer.

Nancy was known and loved for her “open door” policy.  A seat at her kitchen table, hot coffee, a cigarette (until she quit cold turkey 15 years ago – so proud of her!) and hours of conversation were available to all who showed up, no matter the time of day. Much of Nancy’s life was centered around raising, providing for, and fighting for her boys, all the while instilling in them a lasting sense of caring and kindness.  Her home and yard in New Brighton were always full of her sons’ friends, and most of her “adopted” boys can tell a good story or two about the many escapades at 474 Allendale Road.

Nancy’s stories, antics and unlimited supply of love, wisdom and support sent in the form of cards and newspaper clippings will be remembered forever by her three sons, Rick (Molly) Fezell of Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA, Tim (Chris) Fezell of Punxsutawney and Doug (Jenn) Fezell of Franklin. Her boys were the epicenter of Nancy’s life, and they will miss her tremendously.

Nancy’s true “sunshine’s” were her seven grandchildren – Andie (Kenny) Bruzzone, Kate Fezell, Charlie Fezell, Jackson Fezell, Ben Fezell, Nick Fezell and Nate Fezell, all who loved her dearly. Even up to her final days, Nancy was attending Nick and Nate’s Franklin High basketball and baseball games.

In addition to her sons, their spouses and grandchildren, Nancy is survived by  a multitude of family members, including her stepmother, Mary Mooney, her brother, Leroy “Fats” Mooney, her sisters, Mary Ann (Tim) O’Shea and Donna (Brad) Custer, in-laws Ed Rae and Randy Bable, and many nieces and nephews including: Jill (Mike) Botinovch, Mark (Mariah) Balderson, Jodi (Jon) Hilliard, Debi (Dave) Anderson, Rhonda Campbell, Mick (Stacey) Campbell, Randy Mooney, Lori Spickerman and Beth Mooney. Jill and Jodi are truly the daughters of Nancy’s heart, and they took care of the many things (and had the many conversations) not so intuitive to her boys. A special thanks goes out to them. Lifetime friends include Susan Cramer and the McCutcheon, Steck and Stefanosky families. Stephanie Rodgers of Franklin became a dear friend along with Nancy’s many neighbors. The family appreciates their constant attention and care.

Nancy also came to love being a parishioner at East Grove Church in Franklin. Her many church friends and Pastor Matt Blake provided her comfort, companionship and blessings beyond compare.

A thank you goes out to the many healthcare professionals at UPMC and AHN who provided Nancy outstanding care in both Franklin and Pittsburgh. A special thanks to Dr. Matthew Lander and his team at Allegheny Hospital. We all came to learn from Nancy that if Dr. Lander said it, it was true.

When tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand,

that an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand.

The angel said my place was ready in heaven far above,

and that I would have to leave behind all those I dearly love.

But when I walked through heaven’s gates, I felt so much at home,

for God looked and smiled at me and said, “Nancy, welcome home.”

Nancy believed that kindness was contagious. In lieu of flowers, Nancy would like you to perform a simple act of kindness in her memory. Darla Ruth Sinovic, 65, of Freedom, passed away on May 17th, 2025, at Heritage Valley Sewickley.

She was born in Sewickley on August 29th, 1959, a daughter of the late Vincent D. and Edna (Horstman) Sinovic. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Paul Kinkead and a sister, Lynette Polce. She is survived by her sister, Pamela Collins, several nieces and nephews and their families.

Darla graduated at the top of her class from the Community College of Beaver County with a degree in nursing. She worked as an licensed practical nurse at Heritage Valley Sewickley for 10 years.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, May 27th, from 5 p.m. until the time of a blessing service at 7 p.m. in the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 Third Avenue, New Brighton.

Sheila Ann (Smith) Leichliter, 71, of Hopewell Township,  passed away unexpectedly on May 20th, 2025 surrounded by her family.

She was born on March 17, 1954, St. Patrick’s Day, and she embraced her Irish heritage with pride and joy. She loved that her birthday fell on a day known for celebration, luck, and family, and she carried that spirit with her throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donna Jean Smith Williams and John M. Smith and her beloved baby sister, Janet Smith Winters. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of over 40 years, David “Pudge” Leichliter, her daughter, Shannon Rushman and wife, Colleen of Aliquippa, their son, Christopher Kalfut, son, Shane Rushman and wife, Jill of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, along with their four children: Anthony, Zoey, Dallas, and Atlas; along with her youngest son, Jeffrey Leichliter of Hopewell, three of her siblings, Christine Scherer (Ken), Mark Smith (Lorrie), and Keith Smith (Jean), and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews: each of whom held a special place in her heart. Her extended family meant the world to her, and she was a constant source of love, laughter, and support to them all.

Sheila was known as the heart of every gathering. She was natural organizer and devoted matriarch. She was the family’s party planner: the one who always made sure everyone felt included, celebrated, and cared for. She loved her family deeply and cherished every moment spent together.

Sheila’s vibrant energy, generous heart, and fierce love for her family will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
