Linda Sue (Petrella) Eder, 67, of Chippewa Township, passed away on January 3rd, 2025, at her residence. She was born on June 1st, 1957, the daughter of the late Molly Petrella Eder and her husband. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two nephews, Michael and Nathaniel DeMarco, and her in-laws, Frank and Gloria Eder. She is survived by her husband Frank M. Eder, Jr. and their daughter Molly, the joy of her life. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Patty and James DeMarco, as well as her niece, Bonnie Javens, and her family, all of Monaca. Aunts, cousins, old and new friends, especially Lisa and Pat Currie, surrounded Linda with love and care throughout her sickness. The best medicine was when her daughter Molly came to visit.

She is the wife of Frank M. Eder Jr. and the mother of Molly Petrella Eder of Ithaca, New York. Linda graduated from Monaca High School, with the class of 1975. She was also a graduate of Robert Morris University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Linda then worked for Kmart Corporation as an office manager and travelling trainer for 27 years. For 13 years she worked for Mount Olive Christian Preschool, where her love for children and respect for her fellow teachers Cheryl, Debbie, and Debbie, grew. For her last 5 working years, Linda shared her love, faith, and fun with the elderly. She loved all her clients and their families. Linda’s love for others came from her parents, the late Oresto “Presto” and Mary Jane (Scialdone) Petrella, as well as her sister and brother-in-law, Patty and James DeMarco.

Linda dearly loved her church, St. Augustine Parish, and was deeply devoted to her faith.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, January 7th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at CORLESS-KUNSELMAN FUNERAL SERVICES, 3801 Fourth Avenue, Beaver Falls, where prayer will be recited on Wednesday, January 8th at 9:20 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Monica Church, 116 Thorndale Drive, Beaver Falls, with Father Kim Schreck and dear friend Father Robert Vular as celebrants. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Chippewa.

It was Linda’s wish that monetary donations be made to St. Monica Catholic Academy, Angel Fund, 609 10th Street, Beaver Falls, PA 15010.

Charmaine A. Knox, 71, of Rochester, passed away unexpectedly on January 3rd, 2025 at her home. She was born in Rochester on January 29th, 1953, the daughter of the late George F. and Elizabeth Sergeant Slayton. In addition  to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Knox, two of her brothers, Robert Temple and Gigi Slayton, and a sister, Dorothy Yoho. Charmaine is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Beth A. and Dean Frazzini of Rochester Township, one son and daughter-in-law, Chad E. and Kimberly Knox of Cranberry Township, two step-daughters, Shelly Knox and her companion David Trombetto of Conway, Nanette and Edward Zorich of Kentucky, four grandchildren, D.A. Frazzini and Sammi Rose of Patterson Heights, Devyn Frazzini of Rochester, and Kai and Camdyn Knox of Cranberry, one brother William Temple of Monaca, three sisters and a brother-in-law: Shirley Harriger, Economy Borough, Judy McCaslin, Baden, and Robyn and Charles Specht of Rochester, a special niece Vicki Hogue of New Brighton and one cousin Janice Crees, who Charmaine considered to be her sister, as well as many nieces and nephews. Charmaine was a housewife and homemaker. She was also a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rochester. Charmaine was a devoted grandmother and loved spending time with the grandkids.  Charmaine’s wish was to have no viewing or service. Arrangements have been entrusted to William Murphy Funeral Home 349 Adams Street, Rochester. An interment will be held at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.

Rebecca Barto, 32, of Freedom, passed away at UPMC Presbyterian on January 2nd, 2025. She was born in Beaver on May 16th, 1992, a daughter of the late Boyd and Margaret Hrynewich Barto. She is survived by three brothers, Jon Paul, Patrick, and Jeff (Charlotte) Barto, and a sister, Bridget (Mike) Powell.

Rebecca was a graduate of Ambridge High School.  Her kind nature made her well-liked by all.  Rebecca was always willing to go out of her way to help anyone and was wonderful with children.

At the family’s request, no services are being held. Arrangements have been entrusted to the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge.

Robert (Bob) Oran Feits, 64, passed away on January 4th, 2025.

He was born in New Brighton on March 18th, 1960, a son of the late William Frank and Lois Edna (Flinner) Feits. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Ann Feits. Robert is survived by his best friend and beloved wife of 34 years, Kip (Portman) Feits; his two children, Matthew (Sydney) Feits and Marydeth Feits, which were the best part of his life; a brother, William F. (Cindy) Feits; as well as several nieces and nephews, special ones including Rachel (Jason) Prince, Jacob Feits, Eli (Allison) Feits, and Rachael (Darren) Short.

Robert worked as a sales representative for Rubber-Seal Medallion for over 30 years, where many of his customers became lifelong friends. He also worked in maintenance at Allegheny Technologies Inc for over 30 years and could fix just about anything. He was a member of the Craft Committee at Beaver County Career & Technology Center as well as a member at the Pine Run Sportsman’s Club and the Zelienople Sportsman’s Club.

Robert shared a love for the outdoors and was an avid hunter. He went on many hunting trips to Manitoba, Canada where his proudest trophy was a bull moose. He also loved to fish, he enjoyed trout fishing at the Zelienople Sportsman’s Club with his children, and ocean fishing at the beach where he and his family went on a chartered fishing trip every year.

He was the best husband, father, and friend that you could ever ask for. He was a hard worker, had a great sense of humor, loyal to the end, and would do anything for his loved ones. He loved his family dearly and his selfless love will never be forgotten.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, January 8th from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8PM in the GABAUER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 1133 Penn Avenue, New Brighton, where services will be held on Thursday, January 9th, at 11 A.M., officiated by Pastor Win Groseclose. Following services, an entombment at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park will take place.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in the form of potted trees or towards them, which will be planted in his honor. Robert loved trees and planted hundreds of them in his lifetime.

Effie V. Rimer, 94, who was born in Westover, Pennsylvania on May 1st, 1930, a daughter of the late James and Frances Brothers, passed away on January 1st, 2025. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Howard, a baby sister Ruth, a brother Dallas, a sister Leta and a grandson, Sgt. Joshua J. Rimer.

She is survived by her three children, Kathleen Dulaney of Aliquippa, Darlene Rimer of Aliquippa and James (Donna) Rimer of Beaver Falls, four grandchildren: Brian (Dana) Long of Aliquippa, Amy (Ron) Nichols of Bakerstown, Shannon (Steven) Fenton of Beaver Falls, Cory (Giovanni) Dulaney of Philadelphia and great grandchildren: Ryland and Addilyn Nichols, Erin and Eva Long, Christian and Noah Fenton and Kayden and Arimenta Dulaney.

After relocating to Conway, to seek employment, Effie met and married her husband, Howard Rimer of 30 years, before death separated them. They were the parents of three children, Kathleen Dulaney, Darlene Rimer and James (Donna) Rimer.

She was saved at the age of twelve years old and grew in the Lord becoming a faithful worker in the church. Effie taught Sunday School and VBS. She was also in the choir, playing the piano/organ and doing whatever her hands found to do. In 1965, when the Lord called her husband to ministry, she found herself wearing a new hat of “pastor’s wife” where she continued to serve with the same fervency and faithfulness at Millerstown Methodist Church for fourteen years.

After the passing of her husband, she worked at Valley News of Tarentum, Pennsylvania before moving to Chippewa to be closer to her family. In Chippewa, she joined Riverview Methodist Church, serving in the choir, playing the piano when needed, attending Bible Study and Sunday School.  Always and wherever she was, Effie had a carload of people taking them with her to church and different events.  Before moving to Aliquippa, she also worked at Burger King for many years.  After moving to Aliquippa, she began to regularly attend New Life Presbyterian Church.

Friend will be received on Wednesday, January 8th from 5-8pm in the Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Aliquippa, 2345 Mill Street, where a Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 9th at 11 a.m. in New Life Presbyterian Church 2795 Patterson Drive, Aliquippa.

Robert Dornack, 70, of Baden, passed away at home on December 30th, 2024. He was born in Sewickley on June 17, 1954, a son of the late Robert and Lillian (Suhan) Dornack. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Kevin Dornack and an infant sister Stephanie Jo Dornack. He is survived by a brother David Dornack, a sister Tammy (Harry) Angelo, two nephews, Nicholas and Matthew Angelo, a sister-in-law Lynn Dornack and numerous cousins.

Robert was a hard worker.  He worked for NF&M Titanium in Monaca for thirty-four years until his retirement. He was an avid Steelers fan, and in his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a gun enthusiast.  Above all, he loved spending time and drinking beer with his “2nd family,” and his buddies at the Ambridge District Sportsmen’s Association, where he also served on the board.

Family and friends are welcome to gather for a memorial visitation on Saturday, January 18th, 2025 from 10-11:30 A.M., in the John Syka Funeral Home, 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, where a memorial service will be held at 11:30 A.M., with Pastor Jill McGregor officiating.

Jean Grandovic, 100, formerly of Ambridge, passed away on January 1st, 2025, in Masonic Village Nursing Home in Sewickley.

She was born in West Aliquippa on November 8th, 1924, a daughter of the late Frank and Amelia Markovich Vidic. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Leo, who was the love of her life, along with many brothers and sisters. She is survived by her three children whom she deeply loved, Roberta and husband Dale Miller, whom she loved as a son, John Grandovic, Leo Grandovic and Nancy Grandovic, whom she loved as a daughter, three grandchildren, Lee (Rachel) Grandovic, Ryan Miller, & Savannah Grandovic, great granddaughter Layla Grandovic, a loving brother Robert Vidic, sister Anna Mae Vidic, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Jean’s grandchildren were all deeply loved and cherished by her.

Jean was a member and a Christian Mother of Good Samaritan Parish, SNPJ Lodge 33, and KSKJ Lodge 109. She worked in the Ambridge High School as a cafeteria monitor for many years. Jean devoted her life to her family. She always put others before herself.  She was a kind, loving woman who was described by all who knew her as an “amazing” person.  She had a positive outlook on life and being kind to one another was of great importance to her.

Friends will be received on Monday, January 6th from 8-10 A.M. in the John Syka Funeral Home, Inc., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, where a prayer service will be offered at 10 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. in the Good Samaritan Catholic Church, 725 Glenwood Avenue, Ambridge. Interment will follow in Economy Cemetery. Jean’s family wishes to thank Masonic Village in Sewickley for all the loving care she received, and also to Good Samaritan Hospice.

Richard L. Zahrobsky II, 56, of Aleppo Township in Sewickley, passed away on December 29th, 2024 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born on February 2nd, 1968, the son of Richard L. and Joanne Zahrobsky. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving family and his beloved wife of nine years, Tamey Zahrobsky (Bliley), three children, Connor, Owen, and Cara, three stepchildren, Tara (husband Andrew) Corace and grandson Luke, Brianna Sucharski, and Zachery Sucharski (fiancée McKenna Kaup), sister Cindy Zahrobsky and numerous other family members and friends.

Richard graduated from Connellsville Senior High School. He obtained a degree in polymer science at the University of Pittsburgh where he was a proud Delta Tau Delta. He traveled extensively around the world during his employment with various technology companies. He finished his career as the Director of Sales and Marketing with Beaumont Tech.

Richard loved Sewickley’s small-town presence and served on the board of the Aleppo Water and Sewer Authority. In his free time, he enjoyed biking, triathlons, sailing, skiing, and riding motorcycles. He was a ski instructor at Seven Springs Ski Resort, a founding member of the Pitt Crew rowing team at the University of Pittsburgh, and a trumpet player in high school and the Molinaro Band. He will also be remembered for his pure joy in teasing his family with dad jokes – the worse the joke, the better for him! He loved vacationing, especially at the beach where he could put his feet in the sand, search for shells, and have pizza while watching the sunset.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, January 6th, 2025 from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. at Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Moon Township, 1522 Coraopolis Heights Road, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 7th, 2025 at 11 a.m.

Mary A. Garmen, 87, of New Brighton, passed away on January 1st, 2025 in Cambridge Village of Patterson Township.

She was born in Beaver Falls on September 26th, 1937, a daughter of the late Raymond and Mildred (Dambach) Goehring. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert R. Garmen, and a brother, Eugene. She is survived by four daughters, Deborah (John) Zingaro, New Sewickley Township, Diana Garmen of Beaver Falls, Denise (Mark) Pullinger, Daugherty Township, Donna (Robert) Wright of Tennessee; ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, sister Leona Nagel of Ohio; along with several nieces, nephews, and their families.

Mary retired from Beaver Area High School, where she was a custodian.

In accordance with Mary’s wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the J & J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 Third Avenue, New Brighton.

Gary Gilbert Van Winkle, 88, of Rochester, passed away on December 15th, 2024 at Post Acute Medical (PAM) Center in Beaver.  He was born in Abingdon, Illinois, a son of the late Garrett Van Winkle and Evalyn Lamb. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Rachel Lombardo-Van Winkle, first wife Carolyn Watkins, and second wife Charlotte (Shahan) Van Winkle. He is survived by his long-time companion Rebecca Finch, his five sons: Gary, Stephen, Paul, Douglas, and Gregory; daughter, Cynthia; eight grandchildren: Elizabeth Van Winkle, Benjamin Van Winkle, Jennifer Rowe, Alexander Pitt, Laura Lyons, Charles Lyons, Thomas Van Winkle, and Joseph Van Winkle; six great-grandsons: Colvin Rowe, Dylan Rowe, Tatum Rowe, Brayden Pitt, Bennett Pitt, and Bryson Pitt; two brothers, Joseph Kelly Van Winkle and James Van Winkle, two sisters, Patricia Stachew and Jean Van Winkle and several nieces and nephews.

Gary attended Gonzaga College High School in Washington, DC and served with the DC Air National Guard.  Upon graduation from Gonzaga, he began a long and distinguished career in the computer technology industry.  He loved photography, fly-fishing, sports cars, and sports car racing.
