Mike Sullivan Addresses Goalie Issue For Penguins

Jake Guentzel scored twice and Sidney Crosby scored 1:48 into overtime, and the Penguins win over the Philadelphia Flyers in comeback fashion; 5-4 at the PPG Paints Arena.

The Penguins were down 3-1 when Patric Hornqvist and Bryan Rust scored 39 seconds apart to tie the game early in the 3rd. Then after Michael Raffl put the Flyers ahead, Guentzel’s second goal with 1:04 left sent the game into the extra frame.

Tristan Jarry earned his second win in as many games, coming in to relieve Matt Murray, who left the game in the second period after Flyers forward Jakub Voracek collided with him in the net area.

After the game, head coach Mike Sullivan spoke about the situation with Murray’s injury and the goalies moving forward:

The Penguins improve to 13-10-3 on the year, jumping into a 4th-place tie with Washington in the Metropolitan Division. The Flyers fall to 8-9-7.

The Pittsburgh Penquins pulled off a 5 to 4 overtime victory against the cross state rival Philadelphia Flyers at PPG Paints Arena Monday November 27, 2017. Sid “the kid” Crosby scored at the 1:48 mark of overtime to seal the deal for the Pens on their second straight win.  Kris Letang and Phil Kessel assisted on Crosby’s game winner. Jake Guenztel was the big scorer on the night for the Pens with two goals and an assist. Bryan Rust and Patrick Hornqvist scored the other two goals for the Pens. The Pens are now 13-10-3 on the season with  29 points on the season. The Pens return to action Friday night with game one of a back to back series with Buffalo in Buffalo on Friday night.

Pens Fall short in the Third Period against the Bruins!!!

The Pittsburgh Penquins  took on the Boston Bruins on Friday November 24,2017 in a special Thanksgiving matinee game from Boston. The Pens fought back in the second period after being dominated in the first period tying the score at 3 going into the intermission. The Pens then gave up an early third period goal and trailed the Bruins throughout the majority of the period. The Pens put the pressure on late in the period pulling goal tender  Matt Murray with a minute left but the Pens just couldn’t put the puck in the net to tie the game falling by the final score of 4-3. Pens goals were scored by Guentzel, Kessel and Crosby.
