(Beaver County, Pa.) The Pennsylvania State Police in Beaver announced on Sunday, June 26, 2022, that they will be conducting DUI Checkpoints throughout Beaver County over the month of July. Police did conduct a DUI Checkpoint on Friday night on the Beaver Falls side of the New Brighton-Beaver Falls Bridge.

(Beaver Falls, Pa.) Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano is reporting this morning that the City of Beaver Falls Fire Department was called out around 10PM last night to the former Angeles Apartment building at the corner of 14th street and 7th Ave. after the building was struck by lightning. The roadway in that area is currently closed due to safety concerns as debris from the chimney of the building fell to the street below. The City of Beaver Falls Public Works Department was also dispatched to the scene to clean up the debris.

On a hot June night, the confluence of the Beaver and Ohio Rivers took the mastery of Zambelli Fireworks and choreographed it to the tune of several different TV theme songs, presenting an audiovisual theme song to kick off Summer 2022.
Beaver County was the place to be on Saturday night as the 2022 Beaver County BOOM!–presented by PUSH Beaver County–brought the sights of summer and the sounds of sitcoms (and other TV shows) to Bridgewater, Monaca, and the rest of the river towns along the Beaver and Ohio. Thursdays in Bridgewater was the home of the HQ Party, featuring live music by The Wrangler Band.
The Pressley Ridge live broadcast of the 2022 Beaver County BOOM! on Beaver County Radio was also at the HQ Party, hosted by Frank Sparks along with Curtis Walsh and Matt Drzik. Several of Beaver County’s dignitaries, celebrities, and hardest workers stopped by the broadcast booth for a brief chat and insight on the evening’s festivities.

Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is advising motorists that line painting operations on Route 51 (University Boulevard, Stoops Ferry Road) in Moon Township, Allegheny County will occur Saturday, June 25 weather permitting.
Line painting operations will occur at the intersection of Stoops Ferry Road and University Boulevard from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Single-lane restrictions will occur during this mobile operation.
Roadway line painting is an important part of PennDOT’s highway safety initiatives. Paint lines provide direction, delineation, and guidance to motorists.
Motorists who accidentally get paint on their vehicles should immediately wash the paint off with a high-pressure water stream and detergent.
Motorists should use caution and be aware of changing traffic patterns when driving through the area.

(Aliquippa, Pa.) Pennsylvania State Police in Beaver are reporting that they conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Franklin Ave and School Street in Aliquippa on a 2018 Chevy Impala being driven by 26-year-old John Anderson of Ambridge at 8:45 PM Monday Night, June 20, 2022.
Troopers said via release upon making contact with Anderson it was learned that there was an active warrant for his arrest. Anderson was taken into custody and transported to the Beaver County Jail where he was in possession of a known illegal contraband while in the jail.
No other information about the incident was released by Troopers.
Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing lane restrictions on southbound Route 65 in Glenfield Borough, Allegheny County, will begin Monday, June 27 weather permitting.
Single-lane restrictions will occur on southbound Route 65 at the Neville Island Bridge weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through late July. Crews will conduct substructure repair work on the Neville Island Bridge.
The $43 million I-79 Neville Island Bridge Rehabilitation Project includes structural steel repairs, full structure painting, bearing and deck joint replacements, deck repairs and overlays, bridge barrier repair, substructure concrete work and drainage improvements. The project also includes concrete roadway reconstruction, guide rail replacement and preservation work on four sign structures. Additionally, preservation work will occur on the I-79 bridge over Deer Run Road, north of the Neville Island Bridge. Motorists will see ramp closures and single-lane and shoulder closures in each direction on I-79 during daylight off-peak and overnight hours. Other traffic impacts include four southbound weekend closures in 2022. The overall project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2023.
The Trumbull Corporation is the prime contractor.

(Beaver, Pa.) Two men have been charged and are currently waiting a hearing in Beaver County Court after they are accused of the 2020 slaying of 19- year-old Curtis Flowers II in Aliquippa.
Rico Ramone Rodgers, 22 of Aliquippa, and Jeffrey Lamont Alford,27 , of New Brighton face a hearing in Beaver County Central Court Monday, June 27 at 8:45 a.m. for the murder of Flowers. It occurred Tuesday, November 24, 2020, in the area of Davis and Wykes Street in the city’s Plan 11 neighborhood. Aliquippa police were dispatched to the area at 4:35 PM for a report of a male suffering from gunshot wounds. When police arrived they found Flowers, who was struck in the head from gunfire and deceased. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots in the area. Aliquippa Police requested that the PA State Police assume the primary investigation into the homicide of Curtis flowers.

(Hopewell Twp., Beaver County, Pa.) Hopewell Fire Chief Mike Wasik reported Friday morning that a rollover accident that occurred at exit 48 on I-376 westbound was reported by the department’s second lieutenant at approximately 9:22 p.m. right inside the Beaver County line coming from Allegheny County. The vehicle was in the median and the male patient self-extricated himself from the vehicle The fire Department remained on location, and Aliquippa Fire Department who was assisting on scene was returned to service. Hopewell Fire Department remained on scene with PSP waiting for the vehicle to be recovered from the median and provided traffic and scene safety for Herzog’s Towing crew. The vehicle’s driver was transported by ambulance to the hospital , his condition is not known at the present time according to Chief Wasik.

(City of Beaver Falls, Pa.) The City of Beaver Falls Fire Department conducted a training exercise that caught the attention of many citizens in Beaver Falls on Thursday evening. According to Fire Chief Mark Stowe the training occurred at an old barber shop that is located at 8th Avenue and 23rd Street. Chief Mark Stowe reported on Friday morning that the old barber shop was acquired by the city will be burned down on Saturday morning beginning at 5:30 a.m. and they expect to be done by 9 AM.
